TRIUMPH BY GRATITUDE

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Mk.6:30-44, Num.11:1, 1Thess.5:16, 2Thess.2:16, Philp.4:4, Philp.1:6, Eph.4:1-3, Eph.5:1-2, Ps.98:1

There is a wrong and ungodly attitude that is taking a very stronghold of the husbandman in the times we are and that is what by the grace of God and the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be addressing today. What then is the attitude? It is the twin attitude of ingratitude and complaining. And sadly, satan has used this wrong attitude to make the husbandman to be offended in God and His word.

But today, I want to share with you how you can develop an attitude of gratitude and access the fullness of God’s blessings for your life as the man, husband and father by looking at the event where Jesus fed 5,000 persons.

Jesus Christ had a long and tiresome crusade and the people who followed Him became hungry. They needed food to eat but there were two major challenges. The first was that it was already late in the day for them to buy food. The second was how much food will be required to feed everyone, including Jesus’s disciples.

The challenges were brought to the attention of Jesus Christ but what they had were two fishes and five loaves of bread a young lad had. Jesus requested for the two loaves of bread and five fishes be given to Him, while others, including His disciples seemed to complain about the inadequacy of what was available. Jesus directed everyone to sit down. He took what was available, that is the 5 loaves of bread and two fishes and lifted up it in thanksgiving. He gave thanks to God and distributed to the people. The food miraculously multiplied and increased for everyone to eat to their satisfaction with 12 baskets remaining (Mk.6:30-44).

What lesson can you and I learn as shepherds from this?

The lesson is that whatever you don’t appreciate will diminish and whatever you celebrate will appreciate. Regardless of the weaknesses and inadequacies of your wife and children or the general circumstances around your life, learn to give God thanks.

And when the people complained, it displeased the Lord and the Lord heard it, and his anger was kindled and the fire of the Lord burnt among them and consumed them……….(Num.11:1)

God is displeased when you are not thankful. God wants you to be thankful for who you are, where you are, what you have and what He wants you to be as the man, husband and father. This is because a grateful attitude is the pathway to attaining the glorious heights God wants you to attain as the good and godly husbandman. Therefore, Rejoice, again I say rejoice.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for complaining and being ungrateful for making me the husbandman.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the trap of ingratitude.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with a grateful heart and help me to be thankful.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am grateful to God for who I am, what I have, where I am because that is the attitude I must have to access the fullness of my inheritance in Christ Jesus as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
