Bible Texts: Rom.7:1-2, Matt.22:35-38, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Rom.8:1, Rom.7:24-25, Ps.24:1-2, Acts 10:36, Jn.3:5-7, Philp.2:13
Everything in life is governed by laws and principles. And once the principles are obeyed, it results to success. This is why like any other thing created, the office of the husbandman has its principles and in the next few days we shall be examining the principles the govern the office of the husbandman.
Know ye not, brethren, for I speak to them that know the law, how that the law hath dominion over a man as long as he liveth? For the woman which hath an husband is bound by the law to her husband so long as he liveth, but if the husband be dead, she is loosed from the law of her husband (Rom.7:1-2)
Now what then is the law of the husbandman?
The law of the husbandman is the principles of Scriptures that guide, direct, guard, influences and measure the obedience of the husbandman to the commandments of God, to the end that he becomes the good and godly man, husband and father.
The first chapter of the law of the husbandman is found in Matthew chapter 22.
Then one of them, a lawyer asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus said to him, you shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment (Matt.22:35-38)
The first law of the husbandman says that he must love God through a solid relationship with His Son, Jesus Christ. As the husbandman, your relationship with Jesus Christ is your first commitment and you must love Jesus Christ with all your heart, soul, mind and body. Jesus must be Lord over all in your life, and fellowship with Him is the beginning of a healthy relationship with others.
But why is this chapter the first and great law?
I am the vine, ye are the branches. He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit. For without me, ye can do nothing. Herein is my Father glorified that ye bear much fruit, so shall ye be my disciples (Jn.15:5-8)
All that the word of God commands you to do as you lead yourself, wife and children can only be accomplished by the help of God through His Son, Jesus Christ (Philp.2:13). So, without Jesus Christ, you cannot fulfill your mandate and bear fruits as the good and godly husbandman.
Secondly, when you have a quality and healthy relationship with Jesus Christ, you become a better person in your thought, conduct, action, responses and reaction.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17)
The first chapter of the law of the husbandman is the foundation upon which all other chapters of the law are built. If you want to make the best of your calling as the husbandman, you must apply yourself to the requirements of the first law, truthfully and faithfully. That is the starting point.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by the Spirit of love to love You with all my heart, mind, body, spirit and soul.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the power of Your love be rooted in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to bear fruits after Your likeness in my heart, conduct, action, responses and reaction.
FAITH CONFESSION
I love the Lord God with all my heart, soul, body, mind and spirit because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
