One of the vital requirements for the husbandman to succeed as the good and godly man, husband and father is the exercise of His faith in God and His word. If any husbandman can believe, all things are possible to him.
And the apostles said unto the Lord, increase our faith. and the Lord said, if ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamore tree, be thou plucked up by the root and be thou planted in the sea, and it should obey you (Lk.17:5-6)
Jesus’s disciples had seen Jesus heal the sick, the lame, the deaf, the dumb, and raised the dead. But they couldn’t do as much as Jesus did. That I believe made them unhappy. So, when they had the opportunity to talk to Jesus, they said to Him “increase our faith”. And that is must be your heart cry today and always.
Why faith?
Faith is a spiritual force that gives you access to the things of God and empowers you to act like He would (Heb.11:6). As husbandmen we fail most time to realize that at every turn in our leadership function, we need new levels of faith to make visible progress otherwise the husbandman becomes frustrated.
As the husbandman, you must recognize that every phase comes with its own challenges that would require a commensurate measure of faith to handle. What this places on you from the word of God is to continue to develop your faith level so that you can withstand every wile of the devil, subdue the challenges and not give up on God and His word, notwithstanding the challenges.
But how do I increase my faith for a triumphant life as a husband?
Firstly, you must have a personal relationship with God through His Son, Jesus Christ (Jn.3:4-8, 2Cor.5:17). This means that you must be born again. It is this new relationship with Jesus Christ that gives you access to the secrets things of God that empowers your faith in Him and His word to be strong and alive (Deut.29:29). Secondly, you must give attention to the study of your Bible, which is the word of God in print (Jn.5:39, Rom.1:16, 2Tim.2:15). The more you acquaint yourself with the word of God, the more the spirit behind the word enters into your spirit man, igniting your faith in God (Job 22:21, Ezk.2:2, Jn.14:26, Eph.1:17-19). Thirdly, you must engage in continual prayer life in order to build your faith in God and His word (Jude 1:20, Pro.18:1, Lk.18:1). Prayer is the fuel that keeps your faith life alive.
Every good report that you desire to see today and in the future concerning your life and the lives of your wife and children as you lead is possible if you have faith in God and His word. Therefore, have faith in God and enjoy your leadership role as the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of grace and supplication.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, pour upon me the spirit of faith for exploits and continued victories.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to walk in boldness and confidence as I drink from Your word and believe all therein.
FAITH CONFESSION
I tarry in God’s word and His presence, walking in the Spirit, believing all that God says and declaring His counsel boldly and confidently because that is my guarantee to living a victorious life as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
