BE WATCHFUL! AGAIN WATCH!

Sometime this week, I had conversation with a pastor about marriage. In the course of our discussion he remarked that love is not enough in marriage. When I tried to explain from the word of God why his view is not correct and sustainable, he remarked by saying that was not the reality. I ended by saying to him that God is love and because He is love, He is more than enough to make a success out of marriage.

Now, this is the challenge. The philosophies of man and the rudiments of the world have begun to dictate and influence the values and principles of believers, including the husbandman, hence, we must be watchful and remain on guard. And that is why we are reminded of what Jesus says in Mark Gospel chapter 13 and verse 37.

Lest coming suddenly he finds you sleeping. AND WHAT I SAY UNTO YOU I SAY TO ALL, WATCH (Mk.13:36-37)

As the husbandman, why must I watch and be on my guard?

Woe unto them that are ease in zion (Am.6:1)

You must watch so that you do not go away from the values and principles of God that builds the good and godly husbandman. (Philp.4:8). You must watch so that you can continue to be the gatekeeper of the sheepfold of God in your custody (Jn.10:1-3).

Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman says, watch. So, how do I watch?

You watch by continuous study of the Bible by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.14:26). Each time you read and meditate on the word, with the Person of the Holy Spirit guiding you, you learn new things and gain fresh revelation (Eph.1:18-19). And it is this revealed word that builds your faith to believe and do the perfect will of God as the man, husband and father.

You also watch by praying for yourself with the word of God until the word of God gain roots in your heart and starts bearing fruits outwardly (Gal.4:19). Jesus speaking says, “watch and pray that ye fall not into temptation (Matt.26:41)”. Prayer empowers you to hear when God is speaking and to see when God is showing you things (Matt.13:16).

Be watchful! Again, watch!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for allowing the philosophies of man and the rudiments of this world to influence my thought and action.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the revealed word from Scriptures gain root in my heart.
• Father, in the name of Jesus, empower Your word in my heart to bear fruits and let it influence all my decision and action unto godliness.

FAITH CONFESSION

I believe the word of God and the principles of Scriptures over and above the philosophies and rudiments of this world because forever the word of God is settled in my heart as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
