GROWING INTO THE FULL IMAGE OF JESUS CHRIST

When I was a child, I spake as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child, but when I became a man, I put away childish things (1Cor.13:11)

The perfect will of God for you and I is to grow unto maturity (Gen.17:1-2). This means that each day is an opportunity for you and I to outgrow our unrighteous behaviours and become more goodly and godly in our thoughts, words, conduct and action. God doesn’t want the husbandman to remain as a baby but to develop into sonship because God wants the husbandman to be like Jesus Christ, the perfect personality of the good and godly husbandman.

But how do I grow into the full image of Jesus Christ?

The Bible provides the key to the growth of the husbandman.

As new born babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby…(1Pet.2:1b)

What you need to grow daily unto the full image and likeness of Jesus Christ is the pure word of God. Just like the plant needs sunlight and the baby needs milk to grow, so also you need the word of God if you must grow to become the good and godly man, husband and father.

The word of God carries the Spirits of Christ and it is eternal and unchanging (Is.11:1-2, Ps.119:89,105, Mal.3:6, 2Cor.3:18, Heb.13:8). God’s word is the source of wisdom, understanding, counsel, might, knowledge and the fear of God that you require to make you lead your life and the lives of your wife and children righteously and become a light indeed in the market place (Matt.5:14-16)..

For we all with an open face beholding as in a glass, the glory of the Lord are changed into the same image from glory to glory even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2Cor.3:18)

The more you feed on the word by studying and thinking on it, the more you experience transformation in your spirit, soul and body.

It is true that you may not be living the life Jesus Christ wants you to live as you read today’s teaching but you can make a decision to grow and walk away from those childish behaviours of yours just like the prodigal son (Lk.15:17-18, Eph.5:14). Do not surrender to ungodliness and conduct unbefitting as the good and godly man, husband and father. Make a firm commitment today to be like Jesus Christ. Ask for God’s mercy and invite Jesus Christ into your life. Walk with the Person of the Holy Spirit for help and guidance and keep your prayer altar aflame.

You can be like Jesus Christ! Yes, you can!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, have mercy upon me for refusing to desire the pure milk of Your word for my growth and development as the man, husband and father
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my life to grow unto maturity by Your word.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be like Jesus Christ by Your word.

FAITH CONFESSION

I desire and drink from the pure word of God to grow and be like Jesus Christ in my thoughts, action and conduct because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
