JUMPING OVER THE LANDMINE OF ALCOHOL

Happy new month! Welcome to the last month of the year 2023. To God alone be all the glory.

In a moment, I want us to give God thanks for the journey in the past three days in discovering the landmines satan, our adversary, lays for the husbandman. I am confident that you are better empowered by the Spirit of God to deal with satan and his works.

It is very important for you to know that satan hates you, and he will do everything to make sure that you do not attain the fullness of God’s plan and purpose for your life as the man, husband and father. But by the power of God, satan, sin and the world will fail in their plans for your life as the godly husbandman because Christ has made you more than a conqueror, in Jesus name. Amen.

Today, let us look at another landmine satan lays for the husbandman. It is the landmine of addiction to alcohol. Satan and the world have made light of drinking alcohol. They call it social drinking and it is now part of social and status identification. But let us see what the Bible says about alcohol and strong drink.

Wine is a mocker, strong drink is raging, and whosoever is deceived thereby is not wise (Pro.21:1)

But why will satan set this landmine for you even as you lead your life?

The answer is in Isaiah chapter 28 verse 7.

But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way, the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink, they err in vision, they stumble in judgment (Is.28:7)

Satan wants you to err in judgment and decisions. He wants you to be out of line with God, your wife and children. He wants to swallow you up in disgrace, shame, mental ill-health and death.

You are a honourable husbandman. You have the mind of Christ in you. Your example is Jesus Christ. He is the One you must look up to and not to alcohol or strong drink. He is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. Jesus loves you. Make Him proud by living a life well pleasing to Him.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the ambush of drunkenness.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me overcome the landmine of alcohol and strong drink.
• Father, in the Name of, empower me to overcome every satanic thoughts and imagination to engage in drinking alcohol and strong drink.

FAITH CONFESSION

I overcome the landmine of alcohol and strong drink and live my life as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God because that is the perfect will of God for me as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen
