SEPARATE YOURSELF AND BUILD YOUR PERSON

Bible Texts: Pro.16:1, Pro.18:1, Ezk.2:2, Hag.1:7, 2Cor.13:5, Jude 1:20-21, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39, 2Cor.3:18, Philp.3:10-14, Jos.1:6-8, Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1

The year 2023 would be over in the next few weeks. In the midst of this, many are planning for the season. But what wisdom does the husbandman need at this time of the year? It is the wisdom to identify areas where he must improve in the year 2024 and beyond.

The preparations of the heart in man and the answer of the tongue is from the Lord (Pro.16:1)

Through desire a man, having separated himself, seeketh and intermeddleth with all wisdom (Pro.18:1)

The above Scriptures tell you and I a story. And that is, we must build ourselves in goodness and godliness as the man, husband and father. And that preparation starts now.

But ye beloved, building up yourself on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Ghost; Keep yourself in the love of God for the mercy of our Lord Jesus  Christ unto eternal life (Jude 1:20-21)

You and I must set aside days this year to reflect on how we have lived our lives as men, husbands and fathers. We must examine ourselves if we were good and godly men, husbands and fathers. This period is when you and I must evaluate our lives side by side the word of God for the husbandman and see if we have conducted, acted and behaved like the good and godly husbandmen (Hag.1:7, 2Cor.13:5).

Now, for you and I to develop ourselves so that we can function maximally as the good and godly husbandman in 2024, we must consider these now?

The first is that you must sit with the word of God to know what the word says about your covenant responsibilities as the man, husband and father.

Search the Scriptures, in them ye think ye have eternal life (Jn.5:39)

And

We all with an open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory , even as by the Spirit of the Lord (2Cor.3:18)

The more you look into the word of God for the things spoken concerning your office as the man, husband and father, the more you are transformed into the image of Jesus Christ in your conduct, action, thought and relationships.

Secondly, you must contend for your inheritance as the godly husbandman in prayers.

Beloved, when I gave all diligence to write unto you of the common salvation, it was needful for me to write to you and exhort you that ye should earnestly contend for the faith which was once delivered unto the saints (Jude 1:3)

You must contend in prayers and fasting for those godly virtues of faithfulness, forgiveness, tender- mercy, compassion, loving-kindness, diligence, courage, holiness, giving, faith, patience, hope and joy that make up the person of the good and godly husbandman (1Cor.13:4-9).

Just as the natural man goes to the gym to work out in order to build his muscles and physical fitness, you are also to engage with the word of God by studying and praying the Scriptures into your life this season, so that you can develop the capacity to live the good and godly life as the man, husband and father in 2024 (Ezk.2:2).

God wants you to live as the good and godly husbandman. Don’t settle for less!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for living below the standards You have set for me as the good and godly man, husband and father.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me through Your Word to discover Your plans for my life as the husbandman.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to pursue with passion and dedication the mandate of the office of the godly husbandman.

FAITH CONFESSION

I make definite commitments today to take personal responsibility to build myself in the fullness of my calling as the husbandman because that is what makes me to function as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.
