Yesterday, by the leading of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we considered the need for the husbandman to set aside times during this month of December 2023 to examine himself and consider his ways in order to establish areas of improvement as the good and godly man, husband and father for the year 2024 and beyond.
Today, let us consider another important area you and I must focus on as we separate ourselves unto godliness and righteousness.
It is the power of vision.
Moreover the word of the Lord came unto me, saying Jeremiah, WHAT SEEST THOU? And I said I see a rod of an almond tree. Then said the Lord unto me, thou hast well seen for I will hasten my word to perform it. (Jer.1:11-12) KJV
God asked the Prophet Jeremiah what he could see of himself, and the plans and purposes of God for his life. He responded by saying “I saw an almond tree”. An almond represents purity and godliness. He had a vision to walk and live a righteous life, well-pleasing unto God.
God is asking you the same question He asked Jeremiah. What do you see of yourself as you examine and consider your ways? What vision do you have of your life as the man, husband and father from the word of God? Do you see yourself as the good and godly husbandman? Do you see yourself as the good shepherd over the sheep of God in your care? Do you see yourself as the victorious and courageous shepherd? Do you see yourself as the Christ in your home and the light that gives direction to your wife and children?
As the husbandman who wants to live the life of goodness and godliness, you cannot but have a vision for your life as the man, husband and father because vision gives meaning and value to your existence as the husbandman.
But where is the source of the vision God wants you to have as you lead your life as the husbandman?
It is from the word of God.
Search the Scriptures for in it ye think ye have eternal life (Jn.5:39)
You must own a Bible. You must be committed to studying and meditating on the word of God. You must engage the weapon of prayer and fasting for the spirit of the word of God to gain root in your heart and bear fruits in your life. All of these can only happen when you search diligently the Scriptures (Jos.1:6-8, 2Tim.2:15). The word of God provides you with the pictures of what God wants you to become as the husbandman. It is the sure word of prophecy.
Again, the Spirit of the Lord is asking you, what can you see of yourself as the man, husband and father?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower my inner eyes to see Your glorious plans from Your word for my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to run with the vision from Your word for my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of faith and boldness and help me to see the fulfillment of Your glorious plans for my life as the good and godly man, husband and father.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am filled with the vision of God for my life as the man, husband and father from the word of God and I run with the vision with diligence and commitment because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
