Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct , because it is written, be holy, for I am holy (1Pet.1:13-16).
Yesterday, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we learnt that for you and I to become the good and godly husbandman, we must exercise ourselves unto personal discipline in our spiritual, emotional, financial and relational lives. And we have been equipped with the action steps to take to be and remain in the path that makes and leads to becoming the good and godly man, husband and father.
Today let us continue.
As the good and godly husbandman, you must contend against the force of distraction by the forces of prayer and fasting (Mk.9:29). This is because the force of distraction is satanic and you will require a higher power to dominate the force and keep yourself focus on what God commands from His word for you as the man, husband and father.
The other action step you must take is for you is guard and guide your conduct in righteousness.
But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct (1Pet.1:15)
As the husbandman, you must set the foundation of disciplining yourself in your conduct and behaviour by doing only what is right as given by the word of God.
Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven (Matt.5:14)
Your existence as the husbandman is to bring glory to God and the way you prove that is by your good works. So, if you want to have a solid foundation as the husbandman, then your conduct in all holiness and righteousness must be your commitment.
For you to guard your conduct so that you do what is right in line with the Word of God, you must desire and pursue after holiness (Dan.1:8, Ps.42:1). You must allow the love of Christ to rein supreme in your heart so that it can influence how you conduct yourself in a manner that pleases God (Rom.5:5). You must also pray for the continuous release of the spirit of holiness upon your life because holiness is a spiritual virtue and is available to anyone who asks for it in prayers (Rom.1:4, Matt.7:7).
You have a glorious destiny on earth and you are a trans-generational blessing (Gen.12:2). Therefore, start laying a good foundation today so that you can build upon them the precepts that will make you the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with a fresh desire and zeal for holy living.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of holiness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a holy life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I lay the foundation of holiness and righteousness, and I live in holiness in all my conduct as the man, husband and father and in the market place of life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
