THE GODLY HUSBANDMAN IS A HUMBLE SERVANT

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 2Tim.2:23-26, Jas.4:6, Rom.6:1-2, Ps.1:1-3, Philp.2:13, Acts 1:1, Rom.12:1-2, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:6-7, Eph.5:25-28, Jn.6:63, Gal.2:13

The husbandman is a servant. You are a servant unto God and unto your wife and children. Are you surprised? Don’t be! That is who you are as the good and godly shepherd over the sheep of God in your care.

But who is a servant?

A servant is someone who is engaged to serve the best interest of the people. A servant is not less a human. A servant puts the welfare and concerns of others first. A servant is unselfish. And the totality of a servant is humility. That is who you are.

But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. And a servant of the Lord must not quarrel but be gentle to all, able to teach, patient, in humility correcting those who are in opposition, if God perhaps will grant them repentance, so that they may know the truth (2Tim.2:24-25)

Humility of heart is the hallmark of the good and godly husbandman. As the husbandman, you must walk in humility of heart if you want to serve the best interest of the sheep God has put in your custody. You must be teachable and be willing to be corrected by your wife and children because it doesn’t matter the level of education and exposure you may have, you must understand that you are not perfect. You must learn to serve the best interest of your wife and children, sacrificing your convenience for their good.

Now how do I serve the best interest of my wife and children?

You serve them with your talent and skills. You also serve them with your experiences and knowledge. You serve them with your time, money and body.

And when you serve them faithfully, God in turn empowers you with grace and honour. As you keep serving, you enjoy supernatural favour from God and from your wife and children, and also absolute submission from your wife and children.

You are the advantage in the lives of your wife and children. Your make up as the good and godly husbandman is a combination of the teacher, soldier, athlete, farmer, vessel and servant. Therefore, serve your way to their hearts and win their loyalty, faithfulness and fellowship. That is the perfect will of God for you as the good and godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the power of pride and arrogance in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me the spirit of humility.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to serve the best interests of my wife and children, faithfully.

FAITH CONFESSION
I am a servant unto honour and I serve with humility the best interest of my wife and children as commanded by God by Hiw word, with all that I have and know because that is what make me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
