Today’s teaching is aimed at reminding you and I that we have authority and that authority is in God and it comes from God so that we can become all that He has planned for us as good and godly men, husbands and fathers. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will awake from your slumber unto the consciousness of who you are in Christ.
And they went into Capernaum and straightaway on the Sabbath day he entered into the synagogue and taught. And they were astonished at his doctrine, for he taught them as one that had authority and not as the scribes (Mk.1:21-22)
Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman is a man of authority. He taught the people with power and deep knowledge. He owned His role as Christ and was in charge of the affairs of His calling while on earth. He understood the reason why He came to the earth. He sat with lawyers, philosophers and teachers to learn. And every He went, he did good and was triumphant (Acts 10:38).
That is who you are and called by God to be. You are a man of authority.
Now what does it mean for you to be called a man of authority?
It means that you have the capability to make right decisions and act rightly, and this is with respect to how you lead at home and in the marketplace. As the husbandman, when you molest, intimidate, embarrass and harass your wife and children or even those you relate with in the marketplace, it is not a sign that you are exercising your authority. It is bullying and satanic. When you physically abuse your wife and children as well others or destroy their self-esteem, you are not exercising your authority. You are foolish and ungodly in every sense. That is not who you and is not how God wants you to exercise authority.
The authority you have and which God wants you to exercise is this.
And Jesus said unto them, come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. And straightway they forsook their nets and followed him (Mk.1:18)
God wants you to influence your wife, children and the people around you unto goodness, godliness and righteousness. God wants you to rebuke the works of satan, sin and the world in and around your life and the lives of your wife and children (Mk.1:25).God has given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and not on your wife and children and others, and to overcome all the powers of the enemies and not overpowering your wife and children and others (Lk.10:19).
But for you to exercise the authority of God in your life, you must have a personal relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ (Jn.3:5-7, 2Cor.5:19, Ps.24:1-2, Ps.1-1-3). Secondly, you must give attention to the study, meditation and obedience to the word of God (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Jos.1:6-8). Thirdly, you must walk by faith and not by sight through the spirit of faith (Heb.11:1-6, Rom.10:10, Heb.11:32). Fourthly, you must walk in the love of Christ towards all people (Rom.5:5, Jn.3:16). Finally, you must engage the weapons of prayer and fasting and keep your prayer altar burning (Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1, Lev.6:9).
God has given you authority to make your calling as the husbandman effective and successful and for the blessing of your wife and children and in the marketplace. Invest yourself in the demands of godly authority and become a man of good and godly influence at home and in the marketplace of life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for misplaced use of authority.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me authority and power to function in the fullness of my calling as the good and godly man, husband and father.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to exercise Your kind of authority
FAITH CONFESSION
I walk in godly authority as I lead my life and the lives of my wife and children and others in my sphere of influence because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
