Today is day 8 of the 70 days of fasting with prayers. Praise be unto Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour, who has brought us this far! To Him alone we give all the glory.
In the past few weeks, you would observe that the teaching has been around building yourself in such a way that you will be established as the good and godly husbandman. And the focus has been building yourself on the word of God, strengthening our personal prayer altar and fellowshipping with the Person of the Holy Spirit.
Today, let us move a step further by looking at another responsibility you and I have towards the word of God.
Now I pray to God that ye do no evil not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates. For we can do nothing against the truth but for the truth (2Cor.13:7-8)
As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that the constitution that guides your conduct, utterances, relationships, and all aspects of your life is the Bible. From the beginning when God created the office of the husbandman (Gen.2:14-18), He had designed great plans for him (3Jn.1:2). And so He wants you to believe Him and His word and not fight or resist it. Therefore, you must accept the truth of Scriptures as the final authority in your decisions, actions and as you relate with your wife and children and the world at large (Matt.5:14-16).
But what do I benefit if I allow the word of God to rule my life as the husbandman?
The first blessing you receive is that it influences the way you conduct your life in a manner that befits your heritage as the good and godly man, husband father after the order of Jesus Christ (Rom.12:1-3, Eph.5:25). Secondly, it gives you guidance and direction in all your pursuits, decisions and action (Ps.119:105). Thirdly, the word of God gives you understanding of what the perfect will of God is for your life as the man, husband and father (Jn.1:5).
In the next few days, the year 2023 will be gone forever but you and I have a responsibility to spend time with the word of God, fellowship with the Person of the Holy Spirit and prayer fervently so that we can have clarity on what we must do to become good and godly men, husbands and fathers in 2024 and beyond.
As the husbandman, you must be driven by the vision, roles, plans and purposes of God as contained in the word of God for your life and the lives of your wife and children. You must also acknowledge that God created you for His glory. So, if you must succeed, you must seek Him and His word and do exactly what the word commands and instructs.
The word of God is true. Embrace it! Don’t fight it!
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me take You and Your word wholeheartedly.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from every spirit of fear and unbelief.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let Your word gain take root in my heart and let it bear fruits in my life.
FAITH CONFESSION
I stand firmly on the word of God; I believe and act on all it commands because it is my sure foundation to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus Name. Amen.
