Where there is no vision, the people perish (Pro.29:18)
The subject of vision is vital to the success of the good and godly husbandman. And as we wind down on the year, 2023, it is important for you and I to develop visions for our lives from the word of God and stay on it, regardless of the circumstances (Jn,5:39, Jer.1:10-11). God has good plans for you. Can you see it?
But why must the husbandman have visions from the word of God and stay on it? To understand why the husbandman must give himself to seeing the bigger plans of God for him as the man, husband and father which will ultimately make him become the good and godly husbandman, let us consider the event in Numbers chapter 13.
In Numbers chapter 13, the Scripture tells us about the story of Joshua, Caleb and the other spies. The prophet Moses sent them to go and spy the land that God had promised them. They spied the land and discovered that there were giants in the land and became frightful. While others were fearful because of the facts on ground, Joshua and Caleb refused to focus on the facts but the truth that God had given them the land. They focused on the vision. Joshua and Caleb said,
We are well more than able (Jos.13:30)
Just the same way Joshua and Caleb did not focus on the fact but on the promises of God, you are expected to focus on the promises of God for your life as the man, husband and father. Don’t allow the challenges of the now blind you from focusing on what God says about you. You must focus on the bigger pictures from the word of God (Jer.1:10-11).
Imagine for a moment what would have happened if the people of Israel had believed the report of the 10 spies rather than the reports of Joshua and Caleb? They could not have had the courage to possess the Promised Land, notwithstanding that God promised to give it to them.
There are great promises lined up for you as the good and godly husbandman. God has programmed your life to be a blessing and not a burden (Gen.12:1-2. You must not settle for anything less.
Keep the plans of God in front of you. Keep holding on to the truth of God’s word tirelessly. Keep trusting God and His promises. Keep confessing His will daily and stay focused through the eyes of faith on the goals that the word of God has set before you (Pro.3:5, Rom.10:10, Matt.6:22, Lk.18:1).
Remember, if thy eyes be single, they whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22)
