AWAKE, ARISE AND RETURN TO THY FATHER

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Cor.15:34, Lk.15:11-18, Ps.51:1-10, Lam.3:22, Rom.6:1, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.12:1-3, Jn.3:16, Heb.13:8, Ps.1:1-3, 1Jn.5:17, Philp.2:13

Today is day 11 and the start of the second 10 days of the 70 days of fasting with prayers. And over the next 10 days, the focus will be the development and growth of our spiritual life. May you and I not miss the impact of this season in Jesus name. Amen.

The message for today is that of repentance and restoration for the husbandman who has backslidden and fallen into sin and error and has concluded there is no hope for him in God. The Spirit of the Lord is saying to you as you read this devotion that you should return to your heavenly Father, regardless of how far you have gone disobeying the commandments of God for you as the man, husband and father. Your heavenly Father’s arm is wide open to receive you and forgive you of all your trespasses.

I will arise and go to my father and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven and before thee (Lk.15:18)

The Scripture in Luke chapter 15 tells the action the way-ward son of the rich man took while he lived a sinful life. The son realized that he had wronged his father. He discovered he had disobeyed and gone against the will of his father. Rather than remain in that sinful life, he said to himself, “I will arise and go to my father”. He arose and went back to his father and he was restored. That is what God wants for you.

God wants to restore you back to a life of honour, dignity and responsibility. God wants you to live a righteous life and do what He commands you to do as the good and godly man, husband and father. God is not happy when you live in sin and unrighteousness. God doesn’t hate you; He only hates the sin and the sinful life you are living.

For God so love the world that he gave his only begotten son. And whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life (Jn.3:16)

God’s love for you is not negotiable. He loved you yesterday. He still loves you today and He will continue to love you till eternity. His loving kindness is ever new.

Therefore,

Awake to righteousness, and sin not, for some have not the knowledge of God: I speak this to your shame (1Cor.15:34)

Anytime satan reminds you of your past, remind him also of your new life in Christ Jesus and keep pleading the blood of Jesus Christ over your life (Rev.12:11).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me of all my trespasses and have mercy upon me.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal Your truth, ways and life to me by Your Spirit.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live by the truth of Your word and make my life a worthy vessel.

FAITH CONFESSION

I awake to righteousness; I repent of my sinful life; I return to my heavenly Father and I am restored and accepted into the beloved again because I want to live a life pleasing unto God as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
