Hallelujah to God in the highest! The One to whom all power and glory belong. Today is the 12th day of the 70 days of fasting with prayers. Praise be to Jesus Christ, our Saviour.
One of the desires of God for you is to serve Him in truth and in spirit (Jn.4:24). God also wants you to provide the leadership in service to God at home because His perfect will is that you and your household should serve Him here on earth and spend eternity with Him, hereafter.
This is why as the year comes to a close, you must make a firm commitment to lead your life and the lives of others in true worship of Jesus Christ our Saviour, the same way Joshua did in Joshua chapter 24.
So honour the Lord and serve him wholeheartedly. Put away forever the idols your ancestors worshipped when they lived beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt. Serve the Lod alone. But if you are unwilling to serve the Lord, then choose today whom you will serve…….BUT AS FOR ME AND MY HOUSE WE WILL SERVE THE LORD. The people replied, we would never forsake the Lord and worship other goods (Jos.24:14-16) NLT
Joshua was a leader like you. He understood leadership responsibility like you do. He acknowledged the place and power of God in his life’s journey as the man, husband and father, just like you do. So, he made a commitment to support his role as the head. He said, “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”. That is the commitment and vow God wants you to make today.
But why should I lead myself and others to serve the Lord?
It is because you are God’s representative on earth.
Let your light so shine before men that they glorify your Father which art in heaven (Matt.5:14-16)
As the good and godly husbandman, you are the light that shines at home and in the market place. You are to mobilize your life and those of your household to love God, through Jesus Christ, with the whole of their might, heart, soul and body (1Tim.3:1-5)
Now, for you to lead your life and others to serve Jesus Christ, you must give yourself to these demands.
Firstly, you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ, by giving your life to Jesus Christ and accepting Him as your Lord and saviour (Jn.3:7, 2Cor.5:17). You cannot lead your life to serve someone you don’t even know. Your personal relationship with Jesus Christ is the right foundation to making your service acceptable to God.
Secondly, you must give attention to study the word of God for yourself by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit and pray the truths you have discovered from the word into your life (Jos.1:6-8, Jn.14:26, Rom.10:10, 2Tim.2:15).
God has handed over the leadership of your home to you. God has entrusted the lives of your wife and children to your care. God wants you to do what He would have done were He to be physically here in earth as the husbandman.
Therefore, lead your life and others to serve the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a profitable commitment and a proof that you are the good and godly husbandman.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to lead and live my life in righteousness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me lead others in righteousness and all godliness.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, build me up in righteousness, faith, hope and courage as I lead my life and others to serve You.
FAITH CONFESSION
God has crowned me as the leader at home and in the marketplace and by this empowerment, I lead and live my life in all godliness and righteousness, serving God through Jesus Christ in truth and in Spirit because that is my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
