EFFECTUAL FERVENT PRAYER OF THE HUSBANDMAN (3)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Eph.6:4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8, Pro.19:18, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.9:29, Ps.112:2-3, Num.6:22-23, Is.61:9, Ps.127:3

In the past two days, we have been exploring the prayer dimension for the husbandman and how through the power of prayer and personal intercession, he can become the good and godly man, husband and father. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the spirit of grace and supplication be poured upon you for an effective journey as the good shepherd. Amen.

Today, let us consider the last prayer focus. And that is praying for yourself, as the father.

As the father, your relationship is with your children and you hold the first right over them. You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence and righteous living (Deut.6:7-8).

This is the commandment from God to you as the father and it is your personal responsibility to do as the word commands.

And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)

As the father, you must take ownership to train, nurture and invest in your children’s spiritual, emotional, mental and physical growth, development and establishment. These responsibilities are what make your children good and godly seeds. You must recognize and appreciate that your children are gifts from God. They are not a burden to you but a blessing. God gave them to you to demonstrate His fatherhood nature. God wants your children to experience the father’s love which God has given unto us through Jesus Christ. God wants you to grow in leadership skills as you lead your children. This is how precious your children are to you and to God (Ps.127:3, Ps.112:2-3). You must therefore, make them a priority in your life and place a much higher value on them.

You must pray to God to give you wisdom to lead and you must also pray for them so that the life of Christ be formed in them (Gal.4:19). Your prayer is what keeps your children on track and saves them from distraction and ungodly influences.

Now, God wants you to be intentional about your duties to your children because you are their father.

Are you ready to pray as the father? Now is the time to begin.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the name of Jesus, give me wisdom to lead my children in Your way.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, give my children hearing ears, seeing eyes and the heart of obedience to Godly instructions and counsel I give them.
  • Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to function as the father, indeed to my children.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am made in the image and likeness of God and I take responsibility as a father to nurture my children in the way and admonition of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
