Bible Texts: Ecc.5:7, Pro.10:4, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.6:4, Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Col.3:19, 1Cor.13:4-9, Mk.9:29, 1Tim.6:12, 2Tim.2:15, Ps.24:1-3, Ps.1:1-3
Have you ever wondered how tough it is to live as the good and godly man, husband and father? Have you ever considered the ministry of the husbandman as a call to higher responsibilities? The journey to becoming the good and godly husbandman is not cheap talk. It is hard work with profits.
Let us consider the word of the Lord from the Bible.
Talk is cheap, like day dreams and other useless activities. Fear God instead (Pro.5:7) NLT
The ministry of the husbandman requires diligence, commitment, sacrifice and inconvenience. It is really a call unto a higher life (Matt.5:14-16, 1Tim.3:1-6, 1Pet.3:7, Col.3:19, 1Tim.5:8, Eph.5:25, Eph.6:4). For you to be called the good and godly husbandman requires much more than the title, position, privileges or money. It is walking in the fear and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ, knowing and doing all that the Bible commands for you to do as the good and godly man, husband and father.
It is not cheap talk for the husbandman to love his wife as Christ has loved the church and as clearly captured in 1st Corinthians chapter 13 and from verses 4 through to 8. It is hard work and will require a lot of commitment and sacrifices.
It takes diligence for the husbandman to balance his busy schedule with nurturing his children in the way and admonition of the Lord. He will require enormous sacrifices, commitment, courage and hard work to lead and influence his children to love Jesus.
It takes discipline, vision, determination and commitment for the husbandman to provide for his family as commanded by Scriptures (1Tim.5:8). He has to work with his minds and hands and sacrifice his convenience to earn a living so that he can serve himself, wife, children and others (2Thess.3:10). You are the good shepherd so you must rise up to your covenant responsibilities.
The above are proofs that your calling as the good and godly husbandman is hard work. And God has made His grace to abound to you so that you are able to do all that is commanded of you to do as the good and godly man, husband and father (Jn.14:26, Jn.15:5, Philp.2:13).
