Bible Texts: Jn.10:9-10, Eph.5:25, Deut.6:6-10, Is.61:9, Gen.12:2-3, Col.3:19-20, Eph.6:4, Gal.4:19, 1Cor.13:4-8, Jn.10:102, Ps.23:1-2, Philp.4:8
As the husbandman, you are a christ. But how is that possible? The word of God says so.
HUSBANDS love thy wife AS CHRIST has loved the Church (Eph.5:25)
Now, because you are like Jesus Christ on earth and in your family, what then is the mission of Christ which must be your mission as the good and godly husbandman?
The thief cometh not but to steal, and to kill and to destroy. I am come that they might have life and that they might have it more abundantly (Jn.10:10)
Like Jesus Christ, your existence as the man, husband and father is not to destroy the heritage of God in your care but to give value and meaning after the promises of God. And that is what makes you the good and godly husbandman.
The abundant life that God wants you to give to your wife is to love her as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself to it (Eph.5:25). This means that God wants you to be kind, patient, protective, faithful, supportive and encouraging to your wife (1Cor.13:4-7, Philp.4:8). God wants you to add value to her life, ministry and assignment (Gal.4:19). God wants you to defend her from all forms of attacks (Jn.10:1-2). God wants you to lead her to her place of fulfillment and happiness (Ps.23:1). God wants you to pray for and with her (Gal.4:19, Col.3:19). God wants you to be her cheerleader. That is what the abundant life means and that is why God sent you into her life.
God also wants you give abundant life to your children by nurturing and admonishing them in the way and fear of the Lord. God wants you to protect, nurture and correct them so that they become righteous and blessed seeds to you, their mother and the earth (Eph.6:4). God wants you to teach them His word and principles (1Tim.3:3-5). God wants you to be the Bible they read by your conduct (Matt.5:14-16). He wants you to lead them from the front, provide for them and motivate them to fulfill God’s plan for their lives (Deut.6:6-8). God wants you to continue to intercede for them in prayers so that Christ is formed in them (Num.6:22-23, Gal.4:19). This is what the abundant life means and that is why God has made you their father.
As the good and godly husbandman, you are a blessing and not a burden to your life, wife and children. You are not a disaster waiting to happen but a channel of blessing to them (Gen.12:2-3). You must take responsibility to give the abundant life to them, regardless of the circumstances, weaknesses, or challenges.
