TODAY MATTERS, MAKE IT TO COUNT!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Ps.90:12, Rom.13:11-14, Matt.5:14-16, Acts 1:1. Jn.3:5-7, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Mk.9:29, Ps.1:1-3, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15

Today’s message is intended to give hope to a husbandman reading this devotional that all will be well. You can make today count unto fruitfulness irrespective of yesterday’s failures.

Teach us to number our days that we may apply our hearts to wisdom (Ps.90:12)

Today matters! It doesn’t matter what your yesterday may have looked like and it matters less how many times you have failed as the man, husband and father. The Person of the Holy Spirit is willing to teach you wisdom so that you can make the most of your day in the fulfillment of your assignment as the good and godly man, husband and father. Therefore, today matters for you to make the necessary adjustments.

Now, if today matters to me, what adjustments do I need to make? The answer is found in Romans chapter 13.

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to fulfill its lust (Roms.13:11-14)

From the above Bible passage, what you must start doing today and each day if you want to become the good and godly husbandman are these.

Awake out of your sleep.

It is high time to awake out of sleep (Rom.13:11a)

You must take a decisive commitment to depart from your old life of unrighteousness and irresponsibility and start taking responsibility to obey all that God commands from His word for you as the husbandman. You must lay aside your undisciplined lifestyles. You must cast off the works of darkness which are drunkenness, lust of the flesh, lust of the eyes, pride of life, strife, envy and all forms of ungodliness.

Adorn the Lord Jesus Christ, the same way you wear your dress.

But put on the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom.13:14b)

You must start today be wearing Jesus Christ in your thoughts, your conduct, action, responses and reactions. What you think, say and do must show that you are indeed a Christ and in Christ (Matt.5:14-16, 2Cor.5:17, Ps.1:1-3, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Acts 1:1, Mk.9:29, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19).

Today matters to God! Today matters to you! Make today count!

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for my doubts, past failures, mistakes and errors.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me through Your word as I study.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make quality decisions that will please You.

FAITH CONFESSION

Today is a new day for me and I am taking practical steps to obey all that God commands me to do because that is the pathway to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
