DISCOVERING MORE OF ME IN CHRIST

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Rom.2:19-20, Jn.16:13, Matt.5:13-14, Ps.1:1-3, Jos.1:6-8, Jn.5:39, Pro.4:20-24, Jn.8:32, Pro.12:18, 1Tim.3:2,4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8

Discovering yourself and what God has called you to do as the husbandman is the pathway that leads you to fulfilling your mandate as the good and godly man, husband and father. Unfortunately, a lot of the times, the husbandman struggles with his identity and because of that he is unable to function in the office of the husbandhood. And sadly, the failure of the husbandman to take his rightful place as he leads himself, wife, children, and to conduct himself in the marketplace, righteously, continues to reduce the impact he has at the home front and in life.

So, today, what more can I discover about myself?

And art confident that thou thyself art a guide of the blind, a light of them which are in darkness. An instructor of the foolish, a teacher of babes, which hast the form of knowledge and of the truth in the law (Rom.2:19-20)

From the Bible passage in Romans chapter 2 and verses 19 through to 20, the word of God highlights four (4) additional areas of discovery about yourself.

The first is that you are a guide of the blind. The blind here does not mean physical blindness. But that as a guide, you help to lead your wife and children in the way of the Lord and in the way that they should go until they arrive their destination in God (Gen.18:19). Just like a tour guide, you handhold them until they become established in the faith and in the plans and purposes of God for their lives (Jn.16:13).

The second is that you are the light of them which are in darkness. This means that you are to help your wife and children out of their confusion, be it spiritual, emotional, physical, mental and in any area of their lives. There are so many incorrect and misleading information flying around. You must stand in to give the right information to them, otherwise, they will be misled, misinformed and misguided (Matt.5:13-14, Ps.1:1-3, Jos.1:6-8).

The third is that you are the instructor. This means that you are to give instructions to your wife and children, using the principles in the word of God as your guide. The instructions of Scripture are more enduring than any instruction from anywhere and they are life to those who find and follow them (Jn.5:39, Pro.4:20-24, Jn.8:32, Pro.12:18).

The fourth is that you are a teacher, teaching your wife and children on a continuous basis, the word of God. You must not assume that your wife and children know the word of God rather you must understand that there is always room for growth and improvement, hence you must keep searching the Scriptures and teach your findings to your wife and children, even as you live the life for them to see (1Tim.3:2,4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8).

There is so much that God has called you to do as the husbandman. You must awake to fulfill your calling and be a blessing to yourself, wife and children and in the marketplace of life and ultimately, be with Jesus Christ in heaven.

The Lord bless and keep you. And may His face shine on you and give you peace today and forever. Amen.
