THE COVENANT DEMANDS OF FATHERHOOD: HAPPY FATHER’S DAY!

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Eph.6:4, Gen.4:1, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8, Pro.19:18, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.9:29, Num.30:1-end, Ps.112:2-3, Num.6:22-23, Is.61:9, Ps.127:3

I noted that today is father’s day. A day the world celebrates fatherhood. Praise God!

As part of our way of celebrating all fathers in the Mission and those who are not part of the Mission but are connected, I am led by the Spirit of God to re-enact the teaching on fatherhood to remind every father that you are worth celebrating today and always.

As the father, your relationship is not just with your children, it is also with your wife. You are the priest, the pastor, the prophet and the good and godly shepherd over them. You hold the first right over them. You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence and righteous living (Num.30:1-end, Deut.6:7-8).

And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)

As the father, you must make a fresh commitment to take ownership to train, nurture and invest in the lives of your wife and children, spiritually, emotionally, mentally and physically. You must recognize and appreciate that your wife and children are gifts from God. They are not a burden to you but a blessing. God gave them to you to demonstrate His fatherhood nature. God wants them to experience the father’s love which He has given unto us through Jesus Christ. God wants you to grow in good and godly leadership skills as the leader. This is how precious your wife and children are to you and to God (Ps.127:3, Ps.112:2-3). So on this father’s day, you must therefore, make them a priority in your life and place a much higher value on them.

Therefore, you must pray to God to give you wisdom to lead in goodness and godliness and you must also pray for them so that the life of Christ be formed in them and they will become a blessing to you for your labour of love in their lives (Gal.4:19).

You are deeply appreciated. Happy father’s day from all of us at The Husbandman Mission International, Abuja, Nigeria.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give me wisdom to lead according to Your perfect will.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, give my wife and children hearing ears, seeing eyes and the heart of obedience to Godly instructions and counsel I give them.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to function as the father and enjoy the blessings of fatherhood.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am made in the image and likeness of God and I take responsibility as the father to nurture my wife and children in the way and admonition of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
