Bible Texts: Mk.10:13-16, Deut.6:7-10, Eph.6:4, Gen.1:26-28, 1Tim.3:2-5, Is.61:9, Ps.1:3, Ps.127:3, Gen.18:19, Pro.19:18
Today, by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, we shall be looking at the authority and power of the father and we shall focus on Mark Gospel chapter 10.
And they brought young children to him, that he should touch them, and his disciples rebuked those that brought them. But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them, suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not, for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily, I say unto you, whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein. And he took them up to his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them (Mk.10:13-16)
Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, was not pleased with the way the children were treated even by His disciples because the disciples did not want the children to come to Jesus Christ. But Jesus did three things which I want you to start doing from today for your children as their father.
The first action step is that Jesus Christ brought the children close to Himself.
And he took them up to his arms (Mk.10:16a)
You must not only be the provider to your child (ren), you must have a relationship with your children. You must be their best friend and cheerleader.
Secondly, Jesus Christ had a physical contact with the children.
…Put his hands upon them (Mk.10:16a)
God did not only give you hands to spank your child (ren) when they are wrong, He also wants you to use your hands to connect to your children spiritually, mentally and emotionally. A handshake, a hug or even a tap at the back can do the magic when they are hurting or when they are happy or when they do well. Jesus Christ consistently touched the blind and they see, the lame and they walk and the deaf and they hear.
Thirdly, Jesus Christ entered into the prophetic.
And blessed them (Mk.10:16b)
After Jesus Christ has taken them up to his arms and placed His hands upon them, He blessed them. He did not curse them. He empowered the children by the words of His mouth just like God did to you in Genesis chapter 1 and verse 26-28. Regardless of your children’s failures, weaknesses and shortcomings, don’t curse them. Just like Jesus Christ, bless them and prophesy good and godliness into their lives.
You are the prophet over your children. You have authority and power from God to make them a blessing to their world and the seeds that the Lord has blessed (Is.61:9). Take your rightful place by the authority and power of the word of God in your heart and word which reflects in your conduct and actions (Eph.6:4, Gal.4:19, Deut.6:7-10, Num.6:20-22).
