Let’s begin today’s teaching by establishing the perfect will of God for the husbandman. The first is that God wants you to be empowered to be a blessing to your world, your wife and children. Secondly, God wants you to have a fruitful relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Thirdly, God wants you to be His example in words, conduct, thought and responses. Fourthly, God wants you to exercise dominion over satan, sin and negative circumstances in and around your life, home, wife and children. Finally, God wants you to be the good and godly husbandman.
However, you must be very careful of and avoid these three influences if you want to enjoy the reality of God’s perfect will for you.
Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful (Ps.1:1)
The Scripture says that you must not walk in the counsel of the ungodly; stand not with sinners; sit not with scorners. This is because who you walk with, where you stand and who you sit with influence what you think and do (Ps.133:2, 1Cor.15:33).
As the husbandman who wants to be the true representative of Jesus Christ on earth, you must not walk and become friends with those men or relationships that are leading you to do what is unrighteous and immoral- teaching you to lie, cheat, steal, disobey godly rules, disrespect others, abuse your body, and make you to take ungodly actions.
You must also avoid relationships that influence you to make mockery of the commandments of God for you as the godly man, husband and father. These people do not take the commandments, instructions and admonition from the word of God seriously. They will rather influence you to disobey the instructions of God for you. They steal the fear of God from your heart.
But how do I overcome these ungodly influences?
Identify good and godly men and relationships and connect with them. You must be intentional about the associations you keep. You must cultivate healthy, good and godly relationships that will influence your life as the good and godly man, husband and father (Dan.1:8). You must engage the power of the word of God, prayers and fasting so that you can be empowered to discern what is good from what is ungodly and take righteous decisions without being afraid (Ps.1:1-2, Jos.1:6-8, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Lk.10:19).
And as you walk not, stand not and sit not with ungodly influences, your life as the husbandman shall be blessed by God and you will become a blessing to yourself, your wife, children and the marketplace of life.
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, have mercy upon me for walking, standing and sitting with ungodly influences.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me with the spirit of courage to refuse ungodly influences in my life.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to always honour and obey all Your instructions as the man, husband and father.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am made in the image and likeness of God, and I walk, stand and sit with godly influences thereby pleasing God, my wife and children because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
