Today’s topic is a continuation of our teaching that started two days, on how you and I can reposition ourselves to reflect the nature of Jesus Christ as men, husbands and fathers and be the good and godly influence in our families and market place. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ, that you and I shall fulfill God’s plans for our lives as the good and godly husbandman. Amen and amen.
By the Spirit of God, let us examine the word of God in Romans chapter 12 concerning your mind.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:1-3)
But why must I renew my mind with the word of God?
Ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:3)
Firstly, renewing your mind with the word of God gets you on the pathway of growth and development as the good and godly man, husband and father. God’s word is the way, the truth and the life.
Be alert and sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1Pet.5:8)
Secondly, renewing your mind with the word of God helps you to escape from the plans of satan, sin and the world designed to destroy your heritage as the godly husbandman. This means that by the word of God, you are able to watch over your mind against any tricks, suggestions and advices that are contrary to what God commands from His word.
As the husbandman, your mind is the seat of decision, emotion and will. Your life as the man, husband and father cannot be better than the quality of your thoughts. And the only weapon you need to make your life good and godly is by feeding your mind with the word of God and allowing the word of God to influence all that you think.
Therefore, you must guard your heart with all diligence and keep feeding it with the word of God in order to guide your life for profitable living as the good and godly man, husband and father, bringing glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour (Matt.5:14-16).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to renew my thought by Your word and make it to conform to Your will.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome evil with good.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, and by Your word make my life to count positively as the good and godly man, husband and father.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take captive my thought and bring them under the authority of the will and plan of God by renewing it by the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
