BE RICH TOWARDS JESUS CHRIST

But God said unto him, thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee, then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God (Lk.12:20-21)

One of the greatest desires of God for you as the husbandman is to be rich toward Him through Jesus Christ because He made you in His image and likeness (Gen.1:26-28). God wants you to have a quality relationship with Jesus Christ.

In Luke chapter 12 and verses 20 through to 21, the rich man had everything but did not have God. He boasted of his riches but lacked a relationship with God. So, Jesus called him a fool. That is not the will of God for you. As the good and godly husbandman, God wants you to have a quality relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ. Having material possessions is good but what is much more important to God is the quality of your relationship with Him through His Son, Jesus Christ.

In order for you to have a quality relationship with God through Jesus Christ, you must first and foremost be born again (Jn.3:3-7). This means that you must confess your sins to God, repent of them and ask Jesus Christ to come into your life as your personal Lord and Saviour (2Cor.5:17, Ps.24:1-2). Secondly, you must make the Bible your trusted friend by studying it and meditating on what it says to you (Ps.1:1-3, Jn.5:39, Jn.14:26, 2Tim.2:15). The more you study the Bible, the more you know the mind of God concerning your life as the husbandman. And as you think on what God says about you, you begin to notice a steady transformation in your life. Thirdly, you must pray that the word of God will have full expression in your life (Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Jn.15:3-5). This is because it is only through the power of the Person of the Holy Spirit can you be empowered to do the perfect will of God. Remember that the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. But when you pray you are empowered to do all that God commands.

Therefore, make fresh commitments. Return to Jesus! Return to deep fellowship with Jesus! Be rich towards God through Jesus Christ. Keep building your relationship with Jesus Christ.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for not giving You first place in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, create in me a clean heart and renew a right spirit within me.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be rich towards You in all my thoughts and ways.

FAITH CONFESSION

I am rich toward God in all that I think, say and do because that is what defines my heritage as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
