LOOKING INTO THE WORD, DOING GREATER WORKS!
Bible Texts: Jn.1:1-5, Jn.14:12, Heb.12:2, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.14:26, Acts.1:1, Ps.1:1-3, 1Tim.3:4-5, Gen.12:1-3, Eph.6:4
One of the demands you and I must engage in during the ongoing 70 days of fasting and prayers is to study the word of God so that you and I can be built up to becoming the good and godly husbandman (Ps.1:1-3, Jos.1:6-8). The word of God has the power to transform our lives as men, husbands and fathers into the very image and likeness of Jesus Christ (Rom.12:1-3).
But how can the word of God empower me to do greater works (Jn.1:1-4)? The Scripture in John Gospel chapter 14 and verse 12 provides the answer.
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father (Jn.14:12)
The Scripture in John chapter 14 and verse 12 tells us about Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. He had a chat with His disciples about what He expects them to do. He told them they will do greater works than He has done. He also promised to send the Person of the Holy Spirit to help them (Jn.14:26).
Now, looking unto Jesus Christ as your motivator for greater works requires the following commitments from you (Heb.12:2).
Firstly, you must study the word of God for yourself and take heed to the instructions in the word of God (1Tim.3:4-5, 2Tim.2:15). The Bible is full of instructions and it is your responsibility to study the Bible, extract the instructions and obey them (2Tim.2:15). Secondly, you must also demonstrate the instructions by your actions and conduct (Acts 1:1). This means that you must model your life after Jesus Christ and this must reflect in what you think about, how you relate with your wife, children and how you conduct yourself outside the home.
God wants you to do greater works in 2025. God wants you to have a good and godly impact in the lives of your wife and children. All that you require to make it happen is in the word of God. Therefore, take personal responsibility to study the word of God, meditate on the word, believe what the word says and act on the word.
Glory be to Jesus Christ!
