FORCE OF CHANGE: DAY 39

HUNGER AND THIRST AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS (1)

Bible Texts: Matt.5:6, 2Tim.2:19-21, Is.51:1-2, Gal.3:13, 2Cor.9:8, 2Cor.5:17, Gal.4:19, Pro.14:13, Ps.34:15, Ps.1:1-3, Ps.51:9-11, Gen.18:19

Is your soul thirsty for the things of God? Is your heart panting after doing what is right at all times and in every circumstance? Is the pursuit of righteousness the perfect will of God for the husbandman?

Let us see what the word of God has to say concerning the desire for everyone to thirst and pursue after righteousness.

Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness, for they shall be filled (Matt.5:6)

One of the perfect will of God for the husbandman is for him to live a holy and righteous life. God wants him to thirst and pursue after righteousness. God wants him to do what is right in line with His commandments because doing what the word of God commands him to do brings to him blessings (Deut.28:1-2).

As the husbandman, you must understand that what you thirst after determines how much you are willing to give to quench the thirst. And to that extent you must pursue righteousness and live your life to please God in all things. Every day when you wake up, you must desire to do what is right and abound unto good works according to the perfect will of God.

In Is.51:1-2, the Word of God says this.

Hearken to me, ye that FOLLOW AFTER RIGHTEOUSNESS, ye that seek the Lord, look unto the rock whence ye are hewn and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged. Look unto Abraham your father and unto Sarah that bare you…….(Is.51:1-2)

The Scripture above tells you and I to follow after righteousness by following the example of Abraham because we are seeds of Abraham (Gal.3:10-13). Abraham was a husbandman like you and I. He was a man who always wanted to please God in all things. He had a righteous walk with God and obeyed God (Gen.12:1-3, Gen.17:1-3, Gen.18:19).

The hallmark of the husbandman is holiness and righteousness. And that is the life God wants you to live so that the name of Jesus Christ will be glorified in your life as the man, husband and father.

But how do I hunger and thirst after righteousness?
