FORCE OF CHANGE: DAY 56

Spread the love

BRINGING YOUR MIND UNDER SUBJECTION OF THE WORD (1)

Bible Texts: 1Pet.1:13-16, Acts 1:1, Heb.12:1-3, Matt.6:22, Mk.9:29, Lk.6:45, Jn.2:5, Jas.4:7, 2Cor.5:14, Jn.3:31, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15

The perfect will of God for the husbandman is to be ruled by the principles of the word of God. And that is what God wants you to attain as an outcome of your engagement in the ongoing 70days of fasting and prayers.

If you and I must succeed and triumph as the good and godly husbandman, we must as a necessity overcome the tendencies of the flesh by controlling our will, emotion and thought and bringing all of it under the authority and instructions of the word of God.

Now consider this.

Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ, as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance, but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct , because it is written, be holy, for I am holy (1Pet.1:13-16)

The word of God in 1st Peter chapter 1 and verse 13 states clearly that becoming the good and godly husbandman begins with guarding your mind because your mind is the seat of your decision. Your mind is as powerful as your life, conduct and action. And if you are able to guard your mind, you will protect your life and if you are able to control your mind, you will also be able to control your appetite.

But how do I guard the loins of my mind?

If thy eyes be single, thy whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22)

You must be focused on what the word of God instructs and commands, regardless of what satan, sin and the world is offering. And you achieve this by staying continually on the word of God through studying and meditation (Ps.1:1-2, Pro.4:20-24).

You must also examine and test what you allow into your mind by the word of God, and watch with all diligence the gateways (eyes and ears) to your mind because out of the abundance of the deposit of the thought in your mind, you act, either wisely of foolishly (Lk.6:45).
