THREE DIMENSIONAL PREVAILING PRAYER OF THE HUSBANDMAN (3)
Bible Texts: Eph.6:4, Gen.18:19, Deut.6:7-8, Pro.19:18, 1Tim.3:4, Mk.9:29, Ps.112:2-3, Num.6:22-23, Num.30:4-5, Is.61:9, Ps.127:3, Lam.2:19
To God alone we give all the glory and praise for bringing us to the 61st day of the ongoing 70days of fasting and prayers. For the answers to all our prayers and the grace to carry on till this moment, we return all praise to God through Jesus Christ.
Today is day 3 in our teaching series where we are exploring the prayer dimension for the husbandman and how through the power of prayer and personal intercession, he can become the good and godly man, husband and father. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that the spirit of grace and supplication be poured upon you for an effective journey as the good shepherd. Amen.
We have seen the prayer dimension for the man and husband. Let us consider the prayer dimension for the father.
As the father, your relationship is with your children and by extension your wife, too (Deut.6:7-8, Num.30:4-5, Lam.2:19, Eph.6:4). You hold the first right over them. You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence and righteous living (1Tim.3:4-5).
This is the commandment from God to you as the father and it is your personal responsibility to do as the word commands.
And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)
As the father, you must take ownership to train, nurture, cultivate and invest in your children’s spiritual, emotional, social, mental and physical growth, development and establishment. These responsibilities are what make your children good and godly seeds. You must recognize and appreciate that your children are gifts from God (Gen.4:1, Ps.127:3, 1Tim.4:4). They are not a burden to you but a blessing. God gave them to you to demonstrate His fatherhood nature. God wants your children to experience the father’s love which God has given unto us through Jesus Christ (Lk.15:20). God wants you to grow in leadership skills as you lead your children (Deut.:7-8). This is how precious your children are to you and to God (Ps.127:3, Ps.112:2-3). You must therefore, make them a priority in your life and place a much higher value on them.
Your prayer for yourself is what gives you wisdom and courage to lead your children, nurture and admonition them in the way of the Lord and sustain them in godly tracks. Your prayer also saves them from worldly distractions and ungodly influences.
God wants you to be intentional about your duties as the father.
Are you ready to pray as the father? Now is the time to begin.
