The ephod is a special garment worn by the priests that distinguishes them from others. The ephod is unique because it helps the people to identify a priest. Today, let us consider the attributes that make the husbandman unique just the same way the ephod differentiates the priest from others.
Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre but patient, not a brawler, not covetous (1Tim.3:3)
The above Scriptures give the attributes that fit the office of the husbandman. The word of God says that the husbandman must not consume alcohol; he must not be greedy; he must not be covetous; and he must not be someone who fights.
Drinking of alcohol or strong drink does not qualify you as the good and godly husbandman notwithstanding the lies the world tells (Pro.20:1-3). You must not be greedy for gain and selfish without considering others (1Tim.6:6). You must not physically abuse your wife, children or others.
One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity 1Tim.3:4)
The other qualification is that you must have the ability to control the affairs of your home beginning with leading your wife and children in the love and admonition of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Now that you have been reminded of the qualifications for the office of the husbandman from 1st Timothy chapter 3 from verses 2 through to 4, can you say that you qualify to be called the good and godly husbandman?
As you answer the question, please remember that you can always be better each day in your walk and work as the husbandman. All you need to do is to be committed to doing all that the word of God commands you to do as the man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being an ungodly example of Your kingdom to my wife and children and in the market place.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, reveal more of Yourself to me through Jesus Christ and by Your word.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to be the good and godly example of the husbandman in words and in deeds.
