BE SPIRITUALLY MINDED, WALKING IN THE NEWNESS OF LIFE (1)

Bible Texts: Gen.1:26-28, Gen.3:1-5, Rom.8:5-6, 2Cor.5:17, Rom.6:1, Ps.24:1, Gal.6:8, 1Cor.2:14, Jn.3:6, Jn.4:24

In our quest to become the good and godly husbandman, you and I must walk away from the old and walk in the new. Hence, in the next few days, we shall be looking into the word of God to discover how you and I can walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus.

For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh, but they that are after the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For to be CARNALLY minded is death, but to be SPIRITUALLY minded is life and peace. Because the carnal mind is enmity against God, for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. So, then they that are in the flesh cannot please God (Rom.8:5-8)

As the husbandman, you need to take your spiritual life very seriously. This is because carnality leads to death both physically and spiritually. It leads to loss of spiritual vibrancy and fellowship with God through Jesus Christ, loss of family heritage, loss of inner peace, and loss of hope for eternity. That is not the perfect will of God for you. God wants you to be spiritually minded because it leads you to the fullness of life and peace.

But what does it mean to be spiritually minded and to walk in the newness of life? It means to be ruled by the word of God. As the man, husband, and father, you must read the WORD, meditate on the WORD, believe the WORD, think the WORD, and act on the WORD as a way of life. Your decisions and actions must be influenced and determined by what the Bible says, not what the world says. The word of God must take first place over and above your feelings, your emotions, the suggestions of man, and the positions of your culture and society. This is the perfect will of God for you. That is being spiritually minded.

Hallelujah!

How do I then walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus? How do I enjoy the power of the word of God to influence my thoughts, decisions and actions? How do I become spiritually minded?

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for being carnally minded.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, destroy every form and hold of carnality in my life.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, restore to me the joy of my salvation.

 FAITH CONFESSION

I have the mind of Christ and I walk in the newness of life in Christ Jesus because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
