Yesterday, we understand from Scriptures that to live like Jesus Christ is life. However, your life will not take a positive shape until the thoughts of your mind change positively, and that is what we shall be exploring today from Romans chapter 12.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:1-3)
Your life cannot be transformed greatly until your mind is renewed by the word of God. As the good and godly husbandman, you must understand that your mind is powerful. Your mind gives birth to your action, words and conduct. All forms of ungodliness like bitterness, unforgiveness, adultery, malice, hatred, weakness, laziness, lack of compassion, bad will and mistrust are issues of the heart. And also, all forms of goodness and godliness are issues of the mind. This is why you must constantly renew your mind by the word of God because that is the only way you prove that which is good and perfect will of God. If you can win the war in your mind, you have won the battle on the outside.
But why must I renew my mind with the word of God?
Ye may prove what is good and perfect will of God (Rom.12:3)
Firstly, renewing your mind with the word of God gets you on the pathway of growth and development as the good and godly man, husband and father. God’s word is the way, the truth and the life.
Be alert and sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour (1Pet.5:8)
Secondly, renewing your mind with the word of God helps you to escape from the plans and deceitfulness of satan, sin and the world. This means that by the Spirit of God behind the word of God, you are sensitive to know and watch over the thoughts that come into your mind to be sure they are in agreement with what God commands from His word.
You must remember that your life as the man, husband and father cannot be better than the quality of your thoughts. And the only weapon you need to make your life good and godly is by feeding your mind with the word of God and allowing the word of God to influence all that you think which ultimately influences what you do.
Therefore, you must guard your heart by diligently feeding it with the word of God so that you can your life can be guided unto profitable living as the good and godly man, husband and father, bringing glory to Jesus Christ our Saviour (Matt.5:14-16).
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to renew my thought by Your word and make it to conform to Your will.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome evil with good.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, and by Your word make my life to count positively as the good and godly man, husband and father.
FAITH CONFESSION
I take captive my thought and bring them under the authority of the will and plan of God by renewing it by the word of God because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
