THE POWERFULNESS OF YOUR CHOICES (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Deut.30:19, Jos.24:15, 1Kgs.18, Ps.112:1-10, Rom.6:1-2, Ps.24:1-3, 1Tim.3:1-5, Rom.5:5, Rom.8:1, Matt.5:6, 2Cor.5:17, Philp.2:13

Yesterday, we learnt from the word of God that the husbandman must make a choice to study if he must make his leadership count for God, His kingdom and his family.

Now how powerful is the choice that you make?

To help your understanding of the power of choice, let us consider the examples of these husbandmen from Scriptures.

The first was Joshua.

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom ye shall serve……..but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. And the people answered and said, God forbid that we should forsake the Lord to serve other gods (Jos.24:14-16)

Joshua was a man whom God chose to lead the people of Israel, including his wife and children to the promise land. A time came that he had to make a choice and he did make a choice.

The second leader is Prophet Isaiah.

And Elijah came unto all the people and said, how long halt between two opinions? If the Lord is God follow him, but if Baal, then follow him. Then said Elijah unto the people, I even I only, remain a prophet of the Lord….And call ye on the name of your gods and I will call on the name of the Lord…….And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and they said, the Lord , he is the God, the Lord, he is the God (1Kgs.18: 21-39)

There was an argument of who the true God was. Is it the God of Israel or of Baal? Then he put up a contest of choice to determine the true God. And the people after the contest had to choose the God of Israel as the true God because Prophet Isaiah led them to make the choice.

The third is God Himself.

I call heaven and earth to record this day against you that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing. Therefore choose life, that both you and your seed may life (Deut.30:19)

He said to the people of Israel to choose between life and death. But He advised them to choose life because He is life-giving.

But why is the choice I make so important to my growth and development as the good and godly husbandman?

Let’s continue tomorrow.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to make good and godly choices in my life as the man, husband and father.
  • Father, in the Name of Jesus, fill me with the spirit of boldness and courage to always do Your perfect will for my life.
