WALK BEFORE GOD AND BE PERFECT

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Gen.17:1-3, Gal.5:22-23, Ps.51:10, Rom.12:1-3, 1Tim.3:2-4, Ps.24:1-2, Jn.3:1-8, Gen.2:16-18, 2Cor.5:17, Gen.18:19

As we begin the celebration of the essence of Christianity, that is the trial, persecution, death, resurrection and ascension of our Lord Jesus Christ, you and I as husbandmen must walk in before God in honour of what God has done through Jesus Christ.

Walk before me and be ye perfect (Gen.17:1-3)

Abraham had so many encounters with God, yet God still had to demand something from him. And that is what we shall be exploring today as we continue to look into the word of God for the building blocks that make you and I become the good and godly husbandman. What did God mean when He commanded the husbandman, Abraham to walk before Him and what did God mean when He said be perfect?

To walk before God means to think, do and act on what is right in line with the principles of the word of God (Ps.24:1-3). And to be perfect means to be matured which leads to you developing the Christ-like nature of patient, kindness, compassion, mercy, forgiveness, giving, faithfulness, sacrifices, prayerfulness, and so much more (1Cor.13:1-8, Gal.5:22-23).

God wants you to walk before Him and be perfect. God wants you to think, do and act on what He commands from His word and He wants you to have the life of Christ in you which produces in you the character of Jesus Christ. That is what builds you up as the good and godly husbandman.

But how do I walk before Jesus Christ and be perfect?

The first is that you must receive Jesus Christ into your life as your Lord and personal savior and reconcile with Him by repenting of your sins (Jn.3:1-5, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must deepen your relationship with Jesus Christ in order to know Him more and more. This means that you must give attention to the study of the word of God by searching it daily and making a decision to do only what pleases Him. You must also fellowship with good and godly husbandmen (Jn.6:61-63, Jn.5:39, Jn.8:32, 1Cor.2:15, Philp.3:10). Finally, you must engage the weapon of faith in God and in His word by prayer, fasting and confessing the perfect will of God for you from His word (Heb.11:6, Mk.9:29, Lk.18:1, Rom.10:10, Gal.2:13, Gal.4:19).

God wants you to know His Son, Jesus, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, more and more. God’s wants you to be like Jesus Christ in all things and for all things. God wants you to walk before Him and be matured in all you do as the husbandman.

Therefore, abide in Christ and He will abide in you.

Hallelujah!
