Oswald Chambers, one of the greatest apostles in Christendom, was quoted as saying, “maintain a continual watchfulness so that nothing of which you would be ashamed arises in your life”.
It is very easy for the husbandman to fall into error if he is not careful and watchful. And this is why you and I must maintain spiritual watchfulness by being sensitive in the spirit to discern what is right from what is wrong according to the word of God.
Watch ye therefore, for ye know not when the master of the house cometh at even or at midnight or at the cockcrowing or in the morning. Lest coming suddenly he find sleeping. And what I say unto you I say to unto all, watch (Mk.13:35-37)
But how do I maintain watchfulness, as the husbandman?
The first step is to watch the information you receive into your life. This includes the books you read, the films you watch and the messages you listen to. It is the information that you receive into your inner man that influences the quality of your thoughts and how you respond to issues of life (Matt.15:11-18). The second step is for you to constantly engage the ministry and help of the Person of the Holy Ghost so that He can you help to discern right from wrong (Jn.14:26, Heb.4:12). Thirdly, you must engage in the continuous study of the word of the God and pray earnestly for the word of God to gain root in your heart and bear fruits in your outward life (Ps.119:105, Mk.9:29, Gal.4:19, 2Tim.2:15).
However, to enjoy the help of God through Jesus Christ to remain watchful over your life, you must accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and saviour. You must be born again. You must Jesus Christ into your life (Jn.3:3-7, 2Cro.5:17).
Maintaining a continual watch is a lifelong action if you and I must fulfill the perfect will of God for our lives as good and godly husbandmen. Therefore, keep a continual watch over your spirit, soul, mind, will, body and emotion.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the force of carnality.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be spiritual and continually be on the watchtower.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me a profitable watchman.

I maintain continued watchfulness over who I relate with, where I go, what I read, hear and listen to so that my life can reflect the nature of Jesus Christ in my thoughts, action and responses as I walk the pathway to becoming the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
