Every husbandman has a treasure base where he draws from. And that treasure base is his heart. Whatever he does or says is a reflection of what he has stored in his heart, whether good or evil. This means there is a connection between the husbandman’s outward conduct and what he has in his heart. This is why the Scriptures conclude that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks. And that is exactly what Jesus Christ, the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman, is reminding us of in Matthew chapter 12.
A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things, and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things (Matt.12:35)
The perfect will of God for you is to bring forth good things. God wants your life, conduct, and responses to be good and godly because He who made you is a good God. God has not designed you and sent you to your wife and children to be an ungodly example. He sent you to them and to the marketplace as a worthy ambassador of Christ.
How do I bring forth good and godly fruits?
You must first and most importantly have a personal relationship and fellowship with God through Jesus Christ.
If any be in Christ, he is a new creature, old things have passed away, behold all things have become new (2Cor.5:17)
Newness of life in Jesus is the foundation upon which you can build your capacity to produce good things that will bring honour to God, your wife and children. It doesn’t matter how far lost you are in sin and sinful lifestyle, you can retrace your steps back to Jesus Christ by asking Him to forgive you, repent and walk in righteousness.
You must also give attention to the word of God.
And be not conformed to this world but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will if God (Rom.12:2)
The word of God has a cleansing power. It has the capacity to clean the evil thoughts in your heart and refill it with good and godly thoughts. This is why the more you give attention to the study of God’s word and believe what it says and commit yourself to doing it, the more you see improvements in your thought life, actions and conduct. You must remember that you cannot be greater and better than what you know and have stored in your heart.
Finally, you must intentionally cultivate relationship with other good and godly husbandmen who will inspire, motivate and empower you to bring forth good things.
Don’t be fooled by those who say such things, for bad company corrupts good character (1Cor.15:33) MSG
You can have this healthy and godly relationship either physically or from a distance through their books or other materials.
God made you for His goodness. God has made you a blessing to your wife and children. You must bring forth good and godly fruits.

- Father, in the Name of Jesus, help me to rediscover my fellowship with You and help me to serve You in truth and in Spirit.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, renew my mind by Your word and let the power of Your word gain root in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to bring forth good and godly fruits.
