Yesterday, we discover from Scriptures that the husbandman has three (3) personalities-the man, husband and father, and that prayer is an indispensable weapon of warfare for him if he wants to attain the fullness of God’s will for his life (Gen.1:26-28, Gen.2:14-15. Gen.2:18-25, Gen.4:1. Mk.9:29). Therefore, praying for himself as the man is as important to him as the air he breathes because the man is made by God to worship Him (Gen.3:1-9).
Today let us consider the second personality, the husband and prayer dimension.
As the husband, your principal responsibilities are to your wife whom God has given to you (Gen.2:18-25, Pro.19:14). The Bible has provided the covenant assignments you have as the husband.
Husbands, love thy wife as Christ has loved the church and gave himself for it (Eph.5:25)
God commands you to love your wife, not as the world loves but as Jesus Christ loves. This is because the ways of the love of Christ is true, unconditional, selfless, sacrificial, pure, faithfulness, hope, patience and enduring while the ways of the world is transactional, selfish and conditional (1Cor.13:4-9).
But what must I pray about as the husband and why?
You must pray for the empowerment of the Holy Ghost to overshadow you resulting in your ability to love your wife as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself. Now, you must recognize that you will struggle to love your wife as Christ has loved the church without the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit. The prayer altar is where you access the power to love and be like Christ by your thoughts, conduct and actions to your wife (Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19). Your wife, just like you, has so many limitations and weaknesses. It is the love of Christ in you that constrains you from thinking and conducting yourself in a manner that doesn’t befit you as the good and godly husband.
You must also pray because there is a war against the relationship between the husband and his wife (Eph.2:2). Principalities, powers and rulers of darkness in high places are waging constant war to destroy the partnership between the husband and his wife in order to destroy the heritage of their children (Mal.2:13-14, Eph.6:12-18). You must not give satan, sin and the world any foothold in your relationship with your wife. You must stand as the good shepherd and defend your wife against the wiles of the enemy and rescue her from every form of attack be it in her health, emotion or in any area of her life.
You are in the life of your wife as her shepherd. God wants you to be the good and godly shepherd because you are like Christ to her (Jn.10:1-2).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, show me in Your word Your perfect will for my life as the husband and teach me how to function as the husband.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, let the truth of Your word for my life as the husband dwell richly in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to live a productive life as the husband.
