PURSUE AFTER THESE THINGS

Spread the love

Bible Texts: 1Tim.6:1-12-16, Gal.5:22-24, Matt.5:14-16, 2Tim.3:5, 1Pet.1:15-17, Heb.11:6, Num.23:19, Jn.14:6, Mk.12:30, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.6:4, Rom.12:21, Heb.12:2

Now that you are aware of your dominion over the power of sin through the working power of Jesus Christ in your life, you must begin to pursue the things that lead to life and godliness, as a good and godly man, husband, and father.

But you, Timothy, are a man of God; so run from all these things. Pursue righteousness, and a godly life, along with faith, love, perseverance and gentleness (1Tim.6:11) NLT

The word of God says you are the man of God, and as the man of God you are to pursue certain virtues which define your identity as the good and godly husbandman.

Now what does God want you to pursue?

God wants you to pursue after righteousness. God wants you to do what is right from the perspective of the word of God in every area of life, be it personal, in business, academic pursuits, relationships, at work, with your parents, wife and children, in your service to your nation or community and in governance (Matt.5:14-16).

God also wants you to pursue godliness. God doesn’t want you to have a form of godliness (2Tim.3:5). He wants you to be godly and be His true representative in your home and to your wife, children and market place.

God wants you to walk by faith and not by sight because without faith you cannot please Him (Heb.11:6). You must grow in your belief in God and His word. You must trust Him to do what He says He will do because He is the way, the truth and the life (Num.23:19, Jn.14:6).

God wants you to walk in love towards Him, your wife and children (Mk.12:30, 1Cor.13:4-8, Eph.6:4). God doesn’t want you to live in bitterness, envy, hatred, unforgiveness and malice. Rather, God wants you to overcome these evil natures with good (Rom.12:21).

God wants you to persevere in all things. God wants you to be remain focus on the goals despite unfavourable conditions (Heb.12:2). Challenges are real. You may have challenges with your wife and children or your present conditions may appear as a mountain. Nevertheless, God wants you to remain focus on the glorious testimonies He has in store for you.

This is the reason why you must pursue after the things of the Spirit.

That you obey this command without wavering. Then no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ comes again (1Tim.6:14) NLT

God wants you to be matured in the things of the Spirit and develop into the good and godly man, husband and father.

Hallelujah!
