HUSBANDS, SET YOUR AFFECTION ON JESUS CHRIST (1)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Col.3:1-2, Ps.121:1-2, Jn.1:1-3, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39, Jas.1:22-25, Philp.2:13, Pro.4:7, Jas.1:5-6, Heb.11:2, Jas.1:22-25

As the husbandman, where have you set your affection? Is it on things above or things on the earth? Is it on man or Jesus Christ? What daily occupies your mind? What and who have you chosen to believe? Are you seeking the things which are above or things on earth?

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God (Col.3:1-3)

The above Scripture admonishes you and I to set our attention and affection on things that are above because what is from above is better than what is on earth. This is very important for your leadership as the good and godly husbandman because as you lead yourself, your wife and children, challenges would come that will test where your focus is, whether it is on God or on the things on earth.

So, what do I seek from above? It is seeking God through Jesus Christ, and doing the perfect will of God in all aspects of your life. It is walking in the light of God’s word in all you do. God, although He is above, has expressed His person and power through His words in Scriptures, hence seeking Him is your best bet for a victorious life as the good and godly man, husband and father. God wants you to love Him through Jesus Christ with the whole of your might, soul, spirit and body.

What happens when I set my love on Jesus Christ?

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth (Ps.121:1-2)

As the good and godly husbandman, when you set your affection on God, you receive help from Him that makes you to live a life well-pleasing as the man, husband and father.

It is the Lord who giveth you the power both to will and to do of his good pleasure (Philp.2:13).

God is the only Person who can help you to do His perfect well as the good and godly man, husband and father. Looking to the beer parlour, gambling or seeking comfort in the arm or lap of another woman or in any other outside Jesus Christ cannot help you become the godly husbandman. Rather, it will take you farther away from the path of the glorious ministry of the husbandman.
