HUSBANDS, SET YOUR AFFECTION ON JESUS CHRIST (2)

Spread the love

Bible Texts: Col.3:1-2, Ps.121:1-2, Jn.1:1-3, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39, Jas.1:22-25, Philp.2:13, Pro.4:7, Jas.1:5-6, Heb.11:2, Jas.1:22-25

If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead and your life is hid with Christ in God (Col.3:1-3)

As the good and godly husbandman, God wants you to seek Him through Jesus Christ in truth and spirit. God wants you to walk in the light of His word in everything you do because Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life. A relationship with Jesus Christ provides wisdom on how to lead and faith to overcome life’s challenges. God wants you to give His word and instructions first place in your life.

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth (Ps.121:1-2)

What happens when I set my love on Jesus Christ?

Also when you set your love on Jesus Christ, you receive wisdom from God.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not, and it shall be given to him (Jas.1:5)

God gives wisdom and His wisdom, when you receive it, teaches you to speak the right words at the right time, provides you direction on the steps to take, empowers you to differentiate what is profitable and good from what is destructive and hurting and helps you to make right decisions in all aspects of your relationships as the man, husband and father. The Bible calls God’s wisdom the principal thing (Pro.4:7).

But how do I seek and set my affection on God through Jesus Christ?

You seek God through Jesus Christ by giving attention to the study, meditation and practice of the Word of God. No one has ever seen God physically but through His word, you and I can understand His personality (Jn.1:1-3, Ps.1:1-3, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.5:39, Jas.1:22-25). Secondly, you seek God through Jesus Christ by praying the Word of God in faith in order to strengthen your relationship with Him and do all that He commands you to do (Gal.4:19, Jas.1:6, Heb.11:2). Prayer brings the power of God to bear in your life thereby making you to function as the good and godly husbandman.

Looking to God through Jesus Christ is the assurance you need to function as the good and godly husbandman. Set your gaze on Jesus Christ!

Hallelujah!
