THE PRAYING HUSBANDMAN

Bible Texts: Gal.4:19, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, 1Thess.5:17, Jn.15:5, Is.61:9, Jn.10:10, Lk.10:19, Is.30:21, Rev.12:11, Jer.33:3, Matt.7:7

Now that you have returned to Jesus Christ, there is a major spiritual responsibility that you must embrace, if you want to remain in Christ.

But what is that spiritual responsibility? It is prayer and supplication.

I travail in birth until Christ is formed in you… (Gal.4:19)

Men ought to always pray and faint (Lk.18:1)

The above Scriptures help you understand the importance of prayer as the foundation for living your life as the good and godly man, husband, and father. Prayer and intercession are important spiritual discipline the husbandman needs. Praying for yourself is not an option. It is a necessity. It is a commandment. It is the supernatural force that brings to pass the perfect will of God for you as the man, husband, and father.

But why is prayer an indispensable weapon of warfare for the husbandman?

Prayer and intercession builds your power base, strengthens your confidence and faith in God (Ps.40:1-3, Jer.33:3). It also connects you to the supernatural power of God that puts you in command of the circumstances of life, giving you authority to stop the influences of satan, sin and the world in and around your life and the lives of your wife and children (Lk.10:19, Jn.10:10, Heb.11:30-32, Rev.12:10-11). It empowers you to grow and mature in the things of God because you can hear from God on what to do, what steps to take, where to go, how to approach your plans and decisions, what to say, and the ability to discern (Isaiah 30:21).

Without me you can do nothing (Jn.15:5)

As the husbandman, you are helpless without God’s help. Your strength and wisdom to function as the good and godly man, husband, and father will fail you without the help of God, through Jesus Christ. This is why you must pray without ceasing and keep your prayer altar burning (1Thess.5:17, Lev.6:9).

Therefore, make prayer and intercession your daily commitment.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of laziness and slumber.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, baptize me with the spirit of grace and supplication.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to keep my prayer altar burning by Your word and power.

FAITH CONFESSION

I receive the spirit of grace and supplication to intercede and pray so that the perfect will of God can manifest in our lives because that is the covenant demand of the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
