Bible Texts: Pro.23:26, Ps.119:11, Matt.15:18-20, Jn.15:5, Mk.7:6, Heb.10:22, Rom.12:1-3, Pro.4:19-24, Matt.5:14-16, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19
My son, give me thine heart and let thine eyes observe my ways (Pr.23:26)
The word of God in Proverbs chapter 23 and verse 26 is the desire of God for the husbandman. God is asking you to give Him your heart because He wants to make you the good and godly man, husband, and father.
But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart, and they defile the man. For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. These are the things that defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands defileth not a man (Matt.15:18-20)
Your heart is the seat where thoughts are formed and actions decided. If your heart is right, your conduct will also be right because out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.
Why does God want me to give Him my heart?
God wants your heart so that He can mould you to have self-control over your emotions, desires, and expectations. God also wants your heart so that He can whisper to you His wisdom on how to respond to the issues of life as the man, husband, and father. God wants your heart so that He can clean you up from every form of filthiness and dead works.
But for you to give your heart to God through Jesus Christ, you must accept that your life needs help. You must also seek fellowship with Jesus Christ through salvation, word study, meditation, prayer and complete obedience to His commandments (Ps.119:11, Pro.4:22-25, Jn.15:5, Gal.4:19, Philp.2:13).
As the husbandman, you are as good and godly as the quality of what is in your heart, because as a man thinks, so is he. And only the power of God can create a good and godly heart that will influence your words, actions, and conduct to conform to the word of God.
Your heavenly Father wants the best for you, and so giving Him your heart, that is, your life, and allowing Him to have His way, is your best bet. Are you ready and willing to give your life to Jesus Christ?
Hallelujah!
