OVERCOMING THE SPIRIT OF HEAVINESS (2)

Bible Texts: Is.61:1-3, Job 19:25, Philp.4:4, Hab.3:17-19, Ex.20:13, Jer.29:11, Ps.82:6, Matt.6:15, Ezk.27:31, Jn.10:10, Matt.19:4-6, Philp.4:19, Rom.5:5, Rev.12:11, Ps.51:10, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29, Is.41:10-18

And the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek, he hath sent me to bind up the broken hearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound………..the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness (Is.61:1-3)

Yesterday, we discovered from Scriptures that depression is an attack from satan, intended to kill, to steal, and to destroy the husbandman. Satan wants to fill the husbandman with the spirit of heaviness so that he cannot see hope in God and His Word. There is hope in God, and God has a great plan for you.

Now, how do I overcome the spirit of heaviness that leads to depression?

Rejoice in the Lord always; again I say, rejoice! (Philp.4:4)

The joy of the Lord is the cure to fear, hopelessness, discouragement, and doubt that leads to depression and culminates in suicide. Your hope in God, His word, and the testimonies of others is and must be your anchor as you walk the path of life as the man, husband and father.

Job said,

I know my redeemer lives (Job 19:25)

I want you to make this your declaration whenever satan whispers defeat, hopelessness and fear to your ears. I know my Redeemer lives!

And when the things, circumstances, and people around you seem to be shouting loudest and showing you that you are a failure and you will not succeed as the good and godly man, husband and father, shout this loud and in faith, hope and love,

Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labor of the olive shall fall, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls. Yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will joy in the God of my salvation. The Lord is my strength and he will make my feet like the hinds feet and he will make me to walk upon my high places (Hab.3:17-19)

You have a glorious destiny in God. Fear not (Is.41:10).

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome the spirit of fear, doubt, hopelessness and discouragement.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the ambush of depression and suicide.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to overcome every satanic thoughts and imagination of suicide in my life.

FAITH CONFESSION

I overcome the spirits of fear, doubt, defeat, hopelessness and discouragement that lead to depression and ill-health and suicide by the spirits of faith, hope and love because I have a glorious destiny in God through Jesus Christ as the good and godly man, husband and father in Jesus name. Amen.

Please, pray this prayer in faith

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
