Matt.12:35, Eph.2:2, Ezk.2:2, Jos.1:6-8, Ps.1:1-3, Jn.8:32, 2Cor.5:17, Jn.15:5, 2Tim.2:6, Matt.5:14-16, Rom.12:21, Jn.3:3-8, Gal.5:20-24, Jn.5:39, Gal.4:19
Many times, as husbandmen, we give excuses for our misbehavior to our wife and children. We rationalize our sin and most times blame others for it. Sadly, this path of blaming others has made many husbands remain stagnant, immature, insensitive, and irresponsible. God wants you and I as husbandmen to rise above our excuses and take personal responsibility for our failures and conduct, and desperately pursue transformation into the image and likeness of Jesus Christ. Let us consider Jesus’s words in Matthew chapter 12 and verse 35.
A good man brings good things out of the good stored up in him, and an evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in him (Matt.12:35)
The Word of God says that it is what is on the inside that manifests on the outside. If you have stored good in your heart, you will manifest good. If you have stored evil in your heart, you will definitely manifest evil deeds. This is why the Word of God says that out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks.
As the husbandman, you must recognize that the root cause of your misbehavior and unchrist-like attitude and conduct toward your wife and children is the kind of things you have stored in your heart. Your wife and children may have offended you, but they are not the reason you exhibit such ungodly conduct. Your ungodly behaviour, bitterness, unforgiveness, hatred, bad will, malice, and all such fruits of unrighteousness you have shown towards your wife and children are because you have them stored up in your heart. They only manifested when you were tempted or offended. So, look inward, consider your ways, and examine yourself to see what seeds you have been sowing into your life over the years, because every seed manifests in fruits, and every plant is known by its fruits.
But how do I store up good and godly seeds in my heart so that I can bring out good and godly fruits?
SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for storing the seed of the works of the flesh in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus and by the help of the Person of the Holy Spirit, empower me to start storing the seeds of the fruit of the Spirit in my heart.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to keep bringing forth good and godly fruits.
FAITH CONFESSION
I store up good and godly seeds in the treasure of my heart and by the power of the Holy Spirit, I bring good and godly fruits because that is that I am the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
