Yesterday, we learnt from Scriptures that the husbandman must have and continue to have a solid relationship with God through Jesus Christ if he is to become the good and godly husbandman. I pray in the name of Jesus Christ that you will begin a relationship with Jesus Christ and ensure it grows from strength to strength. Amen.
An important area God wants the husbandman to commit himself to is working with both his hands and mind. God wants the husbandman to work honestly and diligently. This is because the measure of the husbandman’s value lies in his work. What gives the husbandman dignity, honour, and respect is his work because there is dignity in labour.
But why must I work?
The first reason is that work is the nature of God the Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit. God worked to create the heaven and earth (Gen.1:3-15). Jesus Christ worked (Jn.5:17).
Jesus says,
I go about my Father’s business (Lk.2:49).
The Person of the Holy Spirit continues to minister to the saints as promised by Jesus Christ (Jn.14:26). And because you are made in the image and likeness of the Trinity, you can work (Gen.1:26-28).
The second reason is that work is a commandment from God, who made you the husbandman.
And God took the man that he has made and put him in the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it (Gen.2:14).
The man had no choice but to work, so God gave him work to do. But if you choose not to work, you must not eat.
He that does not work must not eat (2Thess.3:10)
The third reason is that work provides you with the opportunity to earn income for yourself and give to others.
Yea, ye yourselves know, that these hands have ministered unto my necessities, and to them that were with me. I have showed you all things how that so laboring ye ought to support the weak and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said it is more blessed to give than to receive (Acts 20:34-35)
Work is part of your makeup as the husbandman. There is no alternative to working diligently and righteously with your hands and mind. Work beautifies your life as the husbandman, and it is the principal channel through which God prospers you (Ps.1:3b).
Don’t join in the false teaching that the husbandman doesn’t have to work so long as his wife is working. That is not the principles of Scriptures. You are in the kingdom of God; hence, you must operate and abide by the principles of the kingdom. And one of the principles of the kingdom of God is WORK.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, deliver me from the spirit of laziness and slumber.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, open for me opportunities to work with my hands and mind.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus,prosper the work of my hands and mind.
FAITH CONFESSION
I work because the Persons of the Trinity work and that is what gives me respect, honour, dignity and value as the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
