PUT ON THE GARMENT OF JESUS CHRIST

Bible Texts: Col.3:10-14, Matt.5:16, Mk.9:29, Jer.43:12, Ezk.18:7, Acts 1:1, Jos.1:6-8, 2Tim.2:15, 2Cor.5:17, Eph.5:25, Col.4:19, Eph.6:4, Num.6:22

Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering, forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any, even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness (Col.3:11-14)

As the husbandman, God wants you to put on the nature of Jesus Christ. God wants you to put on the bowels of mercies, kindness, and humility of heart, loyalty, truthfulness, meekness, patience, endurance, understanding, forgiveness, and love. These are the characteristics that make you the good and godly husbandman. Wearing the garment of Jesus Christ simply means thinking like Christ would in all circumstances and manifesting the virtues of Christ in all areas of your life pursuits.

But for you to be able to put on the nature of Jesus Christ, you must give yourself to these important spiritual demands.

The first is that you must have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ by repenting of your sinful ways and accepting Jesus Christ into your life as your personal Lord and saviour (Jn.3:4-9, 2Cor.5:17). Secondly, you must give attention to the study and meditation of the word of God because this is the only way you can know and increase in the knowledge of the Person and principles of Jesus Christ (Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15). Thirdly, you must give yourself to a lifestyle of prayer and fasting to access the power from God that will empower you to be like His Son, Jesus Christ in all things and at all times (Mk.9:29, Jn.15:5, Philp.2:13, Gal.4:19). Fourthly, you must continue to confess in faith, your right standing with God as the good and godly husbandman (Rom.10:10, 2Cor.4:13, Heb.11:1-6). Finally, you must identify with other good and godly husbandmen and be involved in fellowship in your local church so that you can be inspired and motivated to be like Jesus Christ in your words, walk, works, and conduct.

Becoming like Jesus Christ is your greatest heritage. Make that choice today and let the name of God be glorified in your life as the good and godly man, husband and father.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, forgive me for conducting myself in ways that do not represent You in words, thoughts, response and reaction.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, put on me Your nature and let me manifest them in all areas of my leadership role as the husbandman.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to be like Jesus Christ in all that I think, say and do.

FAITH CONFESSION

I put away the garment of unrighteousness and put on the virtues of Jesus Christ and manifest same in all areas of my life because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
