As the husbandman, prayer is not what you think you should do, but what you must do. Prayer is to your existence what water is to fish. This is why Jesus Christ says that men must pray always (Lk.18:1).
Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it, the Lord is his name. Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not (Jer.33:2-3)
God is committed to answering you when you pray according to His perfect will. This is the assurance God is giving to you today. Praise God!
Yesterday, we discovered from Scriptures the importance of praying for yourself as the man. Today, let us look into the Word of God to discover the power of praying for yourself as the husband.
Praying for yourself as the husband empowers you to love your wife as Jesus Christ has loved the church and gave Himself to it (Rom.5:5, Eph.5:25-29, Col.3:19). This is because you cannot love your wife as God commands you to love her in the energy of the flesh or by your strength (Jn.15:5, 1Cor.13:4-8). It is in prayer that you receive the grace of God to function as the good and godly husband, ready to be patient with your wife, be kind to her, forgive her, to endure with her, to exercise self control over your emotional desires, to give generously to her, to believe in her and always desiring her to succeed in all she does.
If you love Jesus Christ with the whole of your heart, mind, soul and body, you are motivated to pray for your wife so that she can attain the fullness of God’s perfect will for her life. Rather than complaining about her attitude, comparing her with other women, and murmuring about her shortcomings, you will always celebrate her good sides.
You must recognize that there is a war against the relationship between the husband and his wife. Principalities, powers and rulers of darkness in high places are constantly plotting to destroy the divine partnership between the husband and his wife (Gen.2:15-25, Matt.19:5, Eph.6:12-18). The aim of this war against marriage is divorce among Christians, which God hates. It is also to destroy the children so that they are unable to stand in the gates of the enemies (Mal.2:14). This is why you must constantly be on guard in prayers to remain established in your walk as the good and godly husband.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, teach me how to function as the husband.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, guide me by Your word to do Your will as the husband.
- Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to keep my prayer altar burning as the husband.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am made in the image and likeness of God and I take responsibility to love my wife as Christ has loved the church and gave Himself for it because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
