As the husbandman, prayer is not what you think you should do, but what you must do. Prayer is to your existence what water is to fish. This is why Jesus Christ says that men must pray always (Lk.18:1).
Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it, the Lord is his name. Call unto me and I will answer thee, and show thee great and mighty things which thou knowest not (Jer.33:2-3)
God is committed to answering you when you pray according to His perfect will. This is the assurance God is giving to you today. Praise God!
Yesterday, we discovered from Scriptures the importance of praying for yourself as the husband. Today, let us look into the Word of God to discover the power of praying for yourself as the father.
As the father, your relationship is with your children, and you hold the first right over them, not the devil nor the world. You are also their source of strength, motivation, inspiration, direction, protection, leadership, influence and righteous living (Deut.6:7-8).
You must recognize and appreciate that your children are gifts from God. They are not a burden to you but a blessing (Ps.127:3, Ps.112:2-3). God gave them to you to demonstrate His fatherhood nature. God wants your children to experience the Father’s love, which God has shown to you through Jesus Christ.
And ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord (Eph.6:4)
As the father, you must take ownership to train, nurture and invest in your children’s spiritual, emotional, mental and physical growth, development and establishment. These responsibilities are what make your children good and godly seeds. And you cannot fulfill the covenant responsibilities of the good and godly father without the help of God. This is why you must pray and continue to pray for wisdom, strength and courage (Gal.4:19).
Praying for yourself as the father empowers you to lead your children, nurture them in the way and admonition of the Lord, making them become vessels of honour. Praying for yourself to become the good and godly father is profitable to you and to your children.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE
- Father, in the name of Jesus, give me wisdom to lead my children in Your way.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, give my children hearing ears, seeing eyes and the heart of obedience to Godly instructions and counsel I give them.
- Father, in the name of Jesus, empower me to function as the father, indeed to my children.
FAITH CONFESSION
I am made in the image and likeness of God and I take responsibility as a father to nurture my children in the way and admonition of the Lord because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.
