DAY 3 of FASTING AND PRAYER
Bible Texts: Jn.14:12, Jn.5:39, 2Tim.2:15, Jn.14:26, Acts.1:1, Ps.1:1-3, 1Tim.3:4-5, Gen.12:1-3, Eph.6:4
Welcome to Day 3 of the 70 days of fasting and prayers. We thank God for strengthening us since the fasting began, and we trust Him for grace to stay till the end. Amen.
One of the outcomes every husbandman should expect from the ongoing fasting and prayer is to be built up by the word of God. This is because the Word of God that you believe and have stored in your heart, and you act upon, empowers you to become the good and godly husbandman (Ps.1:3).
Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in me, the works that I do he will do also, and greater works than these he will do because I go to My Father (Jn.14:12)
The Scripture in John chapter 14 and verse 12 tells us about Jesus Christ, who is the perfect example of the good and godly husbandman. He had a chat with His disciples about what He expects them to do. He told them they will do greater works than He had done because He not only invested His time and resources, He also taught them. And He also promised to send the Person of the Holy Spirit to help them (Jn.14:26).
Now, looking as you look unto Jesus Christ as your model and your perfect example, how do I engage with the Word of God to empower my life and to build the lives of my wife and children?
Firstly, if you study the word of God for yourself, you gain knowledge and instructions that you engage to guide your life and the lives of your wife and children (1Tim.3:4-5, 2Tim.2:15). The Bible is full of instructions. Secondly, as you engage with the Word of God, you must not only teach your wife and children the word, you must also demonstrate the instructions by your actions and conduct (Acts 1:1). This means that you must model your life after Jesus Christ by your conduct, actions and responses to your wife and children and in the marketplace.
God wants to grow in your walk with Him. God wants you to be perfect in all your ways (Gen.17:1). God wants you to be like Jesus Christ in your roles as the man, husband and father. This is your heritage as the good and godly husbandman.
Hallelujah!
