TEST OF YOUR FAITH, DON’T GIVE UP!

DAY 8 of FASTING AND PRAYER

Bible Texts: 1Pet.1:7-8, Matt.6:22, Gen.12:2, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:23, Eph.5:25-29, 1Tim.3:4, Col.3:19, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:7-8, Jer.1:10-12, Dan.1:8

As the good and godly husbandman, the proof of your growth, development and success as the good and godly man, husband and father is the exercise of your faith to believe God and His word, which will be tested. This is what the Bible calls the trial of your faith.

Wherein ye greatly rejoice though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations. That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ, whom having not seen, ye love, in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls (1Pet.1:7-9)

The Bible says that the challenges confronting you today, whether in your relationships with your wife and children, or in your spiritual growth and development, or in your finances and health, or in developing godly character, are for a season. It is the test of your faith, which you will overcome if you do not give up on God and in His word that gives victory.

Remember that God wants you to lead your life, your wife, and your children by faith in Him and in His word. This is because it is by faith in God and in His word that you frame the lives of your wife and children to fit into the perfect will of God for their lives, even in their imperfect state (Heb.11:3). Everything you do for your wife and children and in the marketplace is by faith. This means that you do not become the good and godly husbandman by chance but by your walk of faith in God and in His word through obedience (Rom.4:17).

But how do I pass the test of faith as the man, husband and father?

You must stay focused on the goals of your calling as provided for in the word of God.

If thy eyes be single, thy whole body will be full of light (Matt.6:22)

God wants you to be a blessing to your wife, children and in the marketplace (Gen.12:2, Gen.18:19). He wants you to love your wife as Christ has loved the Church and nurture your children in the way and admonition of the Lord and be a light to the world (Eph.5:25-29, 1Tim.3:4, Col.3:19, Eph.6:4, Deut.6:7-8, Matt.5:14-16). You must always keep these truths of Scriptures right in front of you, regardless of the circumstances or challenges (Jer.1:10-12, Dan.1:8).

You must also keep confessing the promises of God over your life by declaring God’s counsel after you have prayed the revealed word of God in hope (Rom.5:5, Lk.18:1, Mk.9:29).

Therefore, don’t give up on God and in His word, inspite of the challenges. It is the trial of your faith towards making you the good and godly husbandman. You will win if you don’t give up.

SPIRITUAL EXERCISE

• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me by Your Spirit to see challenges as the trial of my faith.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, empower me to remain steadfast in Your promises and help me to focus on Your vision for my life as the good and godly man, husband and father.
• Father, in the Name of Jesus, make me more than a conqueror in all life’s tests.

FAITH CONFESSION

The trial of my faith is but for a moment and I remain steadfast on the promises of God and I focus my eyes on the glorious destinies that God has prepared for me as the man, husband and father because that is what makes me the good and godly husbandman in Jesus name. Amen.

Now that you have read the devotional, it is very important for you to have a personal relationship with God through Jesus Christ. It is the first step in your walk of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost.

Please, pray this prayer in faith.

Lord, Jesus, I come to you today, just as I am. I acknowledge that I have fallen short of Your glory. I ask for Your forgiveness of my sins today. I invite You into my life to be my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for saving my life.
